I am posting this on my laptop from a wifi hotspot
in Davis Square (Blue Shirt Cafe), having ridden here
on my bike from home (through Medford and down the
Mystic Valley Parkway), I just finished a vegetarian
panini and am having a vitamin water green tea and
vegan oatmeal cookie.
I know it's the last year of the decade, so I'm a little
late to the party :P And I know it's a Craigslist purchased
Fuji bike from 1984 and not a Segway from Amazon.com. And
I'd have way more era-specific cred if this were from
Starbucks. And if I were in a Threadless.com artisan
t-shirt and not my Lucky Charms shirt I sent in cereal box-tops
for :P
And I would've twittered this, but I still don't have the
hang of distilling my thoughts to 150 characters or less.
Also, 90's retro is bleeding into everything around the edges.
"1979" by The Smashing Pumpkins just ended on the radio and
now starts "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Although I don't expect
there to be too fine a point on it. Even in my day kids lumped
the 60's and 70's together into this hazy beforetime, that
I suspect will happen to the 90's for the most part.
But I can tell my grandkids about it, at least. Although
I anticipate my recollection to include spinning rims on my
Segway and bling. Lots of bling.
