It's that time of year again.
ABC
How to Get Away With Murder (I haven't seen season one yet, but it's on my summer to watch list. I'm not sure I can handle a law school show just yet, but I keep hearing good things about it.)
Marvel's Agent Carter (I haven't finished season one because I get so frustrated with the lack of diversity, but I have hopes that season two will be better.)
Castle (Oh, man, how ridiculous has this show become? RIDICULOUS. And yet I will keep watching it.)
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (Really disgusted by the treatment of men of color, particularly black men, and from what I've heard, the last few episodes are really going to piss me off when it comes to women of color, so ... we'll see if this stays on the list. And Ward needs to fuck off forever.)
Once Upon a Time (I never did catch up last summer, like I thought I might, but it sounds like there's some really interesting things happening.)
Black-ish (I love the kids SO MUCH.)
The Real O'Neals (New this year, the trailer was ridiculous and yet kind of adorable. I'm intrigued. And concerned.)
Wicked City (I didn't plan to watch this based on the description, but then I watched the trailer, and now I'm curious. I'll give it a try. It has the feel of Zodiac and movies like that.)
The Muppets (*hands*)
Quantico (OMG IT LOOKS AWESOME. And yet I am also terrified it will treat these diverse characters badly.)
The Catch (Maybe I can finally get in on a Shonda Rhimes show at the beginning? Maybe? The soundtrack of the trailer is gorgeous.)
The Family (I wasn't into this until the end of the trailer with the creepy boy in front of the tv. I doubt this will go monstrous the way I want, but maybe I'll give it a try.)
NBC
The Blacklist (J and I watch this together because he loves James Spader. It's fun, but they keep writing the main character as Too Stupid to Live, and I'm not sure how much longer I can watch her make stupid choices.)
Law & Order: SVU (J watches this regularly. Sometimes I watch it, but the rape stories get really, really old.)
Grimm (As with OUAT, I meant to catch up last summer and didn't. I'll try this summer.)
Hannibal (Back this summer, didn't finish the last season because life went to hell. I'll see if I can catch up and keep watching.)
The Mysteries of Laura (I didn't have much interest in Laura's trouble raising her kids while being a detective, but I ended up loving this show.)
People Are Talking (It looks like it could be awesome, it could be terribly racist. We'll see.)
Heartbreaker (I'm not sure how many medical shows I can watch, but this one looks like it has potential.)
Blindspot (JAIMIE ALEXANDER HOLY SHIT.)
CW
Jane the Virgin (OMG YES SO EXCITED. This show is adorable.)
The Flash (Also excited! I'm not a DC girl, but this show is so much fun.)
The 100 (Again excited! So many awesome women! Another one J and I watch together, and I need to go back and watch all of season one in order still.)
Reign (I can only watch this in fits and starts, a couple episodes at a time, but I still love the characters so much.)
Arrow (I feel like I'm missing things by watching Flash and not Arrow, but it's so grimdark. I don't know. Maybe I'll catch up.)
iZombie (OMG YES. Another one I find adorable, and the characters delightful.)
Containment (Well, this looks creepy and wonderful.)
Clearly, CW is ON FIRE. (Except for that whole Crazy Ex-Girlfriend show, which makes me want to burn down the world.)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow (They used the Flash in the trailer a lot, so ... yeah, clearly I'm going to give it a go. Plus Hawkgirl! White Canary! Captain Cold & Heatwave! The Atom! Firestorm! It is ridiculous and wonderful. Rip Hunter is kind of stupid, I have to say. Though ... TIMETRAVEL. I think I am going to embrace the ridiculousness. And, look, it didn't take a billion movies to get more than one woman on a superhero team, MARVEL, and then for only two seconds. [Wait, does the Atom combine Iron Man and Ant Man? I mean, I'm pretty sure he came first in the comics, but anyway, his powers combine theirs? Weird.)
CBS
Criminal Minds (I said this last year, and still mean it: You know, CBS, I might watch more of your shows if you either let them be streamed on Hulu or made your proprietary streaming system better. Because it sucks. A lot.)
That being said, I may give Zoo a try, which looks ridiculous and yet just the kind of cheesy animal adventure stuff I love. And possibly Life in Pieces, because Dianne Wiest is the greatest, and I love her. And, ok, maybe Code Black, which J might enjoy.
OH RIGHT, SUPERGIRL. Supergirl, Supergirl, Supergirl. I don't like Superman, but OMG, I LOVE HER ALREADY. And Jimmy Olson (James) is the hottest of the hot. I mean, come on, there's fucking SISTERS, YOU GUYS. I AM WATCHING THE SHIT OUT OF THIS SHOW.
Fox
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (I love it, though they've made some unfortunate fat jokes and trans phobic jokes.)
Empire (First season is on my summer to watch list because I've heard such good things about the bipolar character.)
Gotham (Though J isn't a fan of superhero comics and their media, he loves to watch this show. Baaaaaaaaaby!Catwoman is my favorite.)
Sleepy Hollow (I still haven't finished this season, but I hope next season goes back to the things that made it awesome in season one.)
The Simpsons (Pretty sure I'm in it until the end at this point.)
Bones (At the beginning of this past season, I thought Castle was the stronger show and Bones just spinning its wheels. Castle ended up completely ridiculous [though I still love the characters SO MUCH I'll keep watching], and Bones has had some excellent character developments that got me interested again. Though even if not, I think I'm in it until the end with this one, too. I've been watching since episode one.)
Rosewood (UM, Dr. Rosewood is beyond hot, and I am in for this cop-medical examiner snarky flirtation. And Jaina Lee Ortiz looks like she's going to do an amazing job with this show.)
Lucifer (I mostly plan to keep an eye on this to see how often D.B. Woodside turns up as Amenadiel, because JFC, hot. And this could have potential.)
Minority Report (I don't think I've ever seen the movie, so I should probably watch it first, but the cop in the trailer looks amazing, and I'm willing to give it a try just for her.)
Grandfathered (I ... am tempted because of the cast and all sorts of family feels, but also, I'm leery.)
Scream Queens (It appeals to me on so many levels, except for the level WHERE I HATE RYAN MURPHY WITH ALL THE HEAT OF THE SUN.)
Netflix
Orange Is the New Black (I haven't seen any of this yet, but J watches it, so odds are good I'll watch it.)
Daredevil (Season one is on my summer to watch list.)
Sports Entertainment
WWE RAW
WWE Main Event
WWE Smackdown
WWE Superstars
WWE PPVs
College football
Summer To Watch List
(This list is mostly catching up on things.)
Pretty Little Liars (I didn't see any of the last season.)
Girl Meets World
How to Get Away With Murder
Grimm (I've seen season one.)
Once Upon a Time (I've seen season one.)
The 100 (I've seen all of season two and part of season one.)
Daredevil
Empire
The Killing
CSI (I'm up to the episodes in 2003.)
Friends (I think I'm in the last season. I enjoy it, though NYC is really fucking straight and white. And Ross is THE WORST.)
Community
Cancelled Shows
The Following (Not sad about this at all, though I've enjoyed it.)
Red Band Society (This was cute enough, and I did end up caring about the characters, but again, not sad.)
So, that's a lot of tv. Lots and lots of ridiculous tv, too. And who knew that DC would end up being the best of the superhero tv? Damn, DC. Damn.
