Fandom: Marching Band
Nephew bonding time today. We rode in a Christmas parade, ran errands, and sat down to watch Drumline: A New Beat. And you guys, I've wanted to write a marching band story about a woman fighting to get her place on the line as a snare. And that's exactly what this story is, and it is amazing, and I fucking love it.
Also, I love the Black, gay preacher's son SO FUCKING MUCH. I love him. I LOVE HIM. And his flirtation with the football player. OMG YOU GUYS I LOVE IT. OMG THERE'S MAKE OUTS IN THE CLUB I AM DEAD. DEAD. THEY ARE ADORABLE.
RIGHT UP UNTIL FOOTBALL STAR TURNS OUT TO BE CLOSETED WITH A BEARD OH HELL NO.
Wait, no, I take it back, they actually talk about it and the closet and how much it sucks to have to give up the relationship because he swore he'd never go back to the closet after high school. So. Yes. Once again, I'm back to loving every part of this story.
I am so glad we chose this for movie night. Nephew and I have been talking marching band all weekend, looking forward to next year's line and his tryouts and band boosters and all sorts of shit.
