In Progress
Dear Yuletide Author,
Thank you for writing a story for me! Yuletide is my favorite fannish time of year, and though I have been mostly away from fandom because 2012 and 2013 were filled with some really horrible events, I am looking forward to Yuletide more than ever.
Before I get into any extra details, I want to say that I am excited about your story, no matter on which fandom(s) we match. I love writing stories for people for Yuletide, it brings me so much joy, and I hope you have a lot of fun and a wonderful experience writing for me. (And that Yuletide stress, which seems almost inevitable sometimes, is as minimal as possible.) I can't wait to read your story!
You can find me on DW, LJ, AO3, Tumblr, and Twitter as escritoireazul, though none of these accounts have been very active lately.
I am always down for adding werewolves to a fandom. Always.
General Information
For Yuletide, I tend to prefer happy, joyful stories. I cannot handle character death, particularly the death of a mother figure. Even if it's in canon, I would really prefer the story either be au to that death or simply not touch on it. I tag a lot, so if you're looking for more information about a particular fandom or what I've written in that fandom (surely I'm not the only Yuletide writer who looks for this), that should be easy to find.
I like all fic ratings, and love both gen and romantic stories. Sex, no sex, whatever makes you happy in your story.
Likes: girl slash, gen, and het more than boy slash, mostly because I really love stories about women being awesome; women being awesome and competent and smart and funny and sexy; badass women and their big-ass swords; werewolves and werewolf packs as families and women being amazing werewolves and werewolf alternate universes in any canon; families being loving and protective and a little snarly with each other because they trust each other to always be there; poly families, threesomes, foursomes, and moresomes, as long as it is consensual and not cheating; intricate plots and adventure stories and mysteries to solve; friends and family teaming up to save the world; adoption stories where adoption is treated as totally normal and not a BIG DRAMATIC SECRET to up the tension; siblings as friends and friends as family and families of choice; oceans and full moons; Halloween and horror movies; roadtrip stories and motorcycle rides; mechanics and garages; boxing and controlled violence as bonding; and crossovers, the more twisty and complicated the better.
Dislikes: disrespect for characters of color, queer characters (particularly bisexual and trans* characters), fat characters, or characters with mental illness; character bashing; rape and non-con and dub-con; women feeling guilty about enjoying sex; use of "crazy" to mean bad or dangerous or scary, etc.; Man Pain, particularly White Man Pain; and embarrassment/humiliation. While I like kinky stories generally, this year I'm not down for anything except maybe biting, slight bondage, and a little bloodplay, for any werewolves.
Specific Requests
My requests are in no specific order. I love each of them, and would be absolutely delighted to receive a story in any of them. This year, I am apparently very interested in badass women and their big-ass swords, but would be happy with a story in any of these fandoms. I love them all.
Protector of the Small - Tamora Pierce
Keladry of Mindelan
Sign-up Notes: Kel is the Tamora Pierce POV character of my heart. I grew up with Alanna, and liked her story a lot, but Kel is so strong and so smart and so relatable, and just an absolutely amazing, driven, fantastic character. I'd love any story about her being awesome, and would particularly love girl slash about badass women and their swords.
More: I would love to see a story about more of Kel's adventures as a knight. I prefer gen to any romantic pairing, and I quite like Kel and Raoul's mentorship and friendship. Also, I like werewolves and have always wanted to see them in the Tortall universe. I will never, ever get enough of Keladry of Mindelan. Never. She is amazeballs and my favorite. Any other character is welcome to be added to this, but I just want more Kel. Always more Kel.
Provost's Dog - Tamora Pierce
Sabine of Macayhill
Sign-up Notes: I love Sabine far more than I ever expected. I want to know more about her adventures as a knight and a noble in a world starting to go toward the gentle mother. As with Kel, I'd love any story about her being awesome, and would particularly love girl slash about badass women and their swords.
More: I really, really like the first two books of this series. They are probably my second favorite set, after Protector of the Small. The third book is ... strange. I like it, but not in the same way. The pacing often throws me, I think. However, I love Sabine unbelievable amounts in the third book, and would love to see more of her, maybe set before the series or after. She's had some adventures, that one, and I want to know all about them.
Dance Academy
Abigail Armstrong
Sign-up Notes: Abigail is amazing and delightful, strong and opinionated and an amazing, passionate dancer. I am particularly intrigued by how she relates to Sammy and Ollie, but any story about her brilliance would be awesome.
More: Every time I think about it, I am more intrigued by how Abigail relates to Sammy and Ollie. I think I'd even like a "v" poly relationship, with Sammy as the joining point. One thing I really like as we see more of Abigail and Ollie is how similar they are, particularly when it comes to their dancing. There are times when it is very, very clear why Sammy loved them both.
Bunheads
Melanie Segal
Sign-up Notes: What I love best about Melanie is her passion and her anger and finding positive ways to explore it. My favorite interpretation of Melanie is that she is a queer woman who finds herself through positive violence (such as roller derby or boxing or something). I particularly ship her with Cozette.
More: Melanie was mostly left an enigma during the very little piece of a show we received, and I want to know more about her. What's she like away from dancing and roller derby? What's she like as she grows up? Does she grow comfortable with her violence?
I just want to say again that I will love your story. This is my favorite time of year and Yuletide is a huge part of that. No pressure! I always love the stories I receive and I really, really want you to have fun with it. Promise. Write a story that you enjoy, and I will be happy.
