I can't believe that three months ago, I never thought I'd watch Glee again after much it angered me in season one, and yet here I am, giddy as freaking hell over tonight's episode. I don't recognize myself sometimes. (Not just for this reason. There are many reasons. This life is not the life I anticipated.) God, I love prom stories. LOVE THEM. I do so hope I can mostly love this episode, instead of love-hate-mostly hate as is normal.
ANYWAY, spoilers beneath the cut.
Uh, actually, I think Quinn wants Finn because he will get her prom queen, GLEERECAP.
LOFL THE ROAD WARRIORS OMG I LOVE THEM
Oh, lord, seriously, this is where the story is going? SERIOUSLY? OKAY SO NO FLAT LOVING THE EPISODE, OBVIOUSLY. FUUUUUCK YOU. Wasn't his whole point in "Sexy" that he's trying to find new ways to be a badass, ways that aren't him doing things just to be popular and because he thought stupid was what everyone wanted from him? AND NOW THIS? OOOH, STRONG GIRLFRIEND, MUST BE A SLAM TO HIS MANHOOD. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Oh, man, I love that Figgins' second favorite group is New Directions. ADORBS.
WAIT WAIT WAIT isn't Mercedes all SOLO POWER NO DATING? So why won't she go to prom without a date?
I do not trust this show to deal with Lauren and her difficulty finding a prom dress. (Also, custom-made dresses can be fabulous. I have four custom-made formals, not because I couldn't find anything that fit -- in fact, one year I found a dress like three days before prom -- but because I am picky and couldn't find anything that was perfect, so I had them made. One of them I rewore a couple years ago to a grad school prom, and it was still the most incredible dress in the room. Everyone complimented it. My mom made three of them, and a friend made the fourth.)
Aww, Mercedes. Never mind, I take it back, you are breaking my heart a little, baby. I will take you to prom. I look good in a tux, and I give great prom. (Believe me, I went to enough.)
Jesus, Blaine is also breaking my heart. HEART BREAK AND ANGER. Jesus.
WAIT. WAIT. WAIT. DID LEXIE WRITE THIS FREAKING EPISODE?
I am SO GLAD Kurt asked Blaine too.
Aww, no one knew when Sam's birthday was. I LOVE YOU SAM.
"Kind of like a threeway date, but not the dirty kind." HELL YEAH THE DIRTY KIND. GET ON THAT YOU THREE. GLEE POLY FAMILY FOR THE GODDAMN WIN, Y'ALL.
TINA TINA I LOVE YOU TINA.
"I think you look delicious." BRITTANY + LAUREN DUDES. GLEE POLY FAMILY FOR THE GODDAMN WIN AGAIN, Y'ALL.
THE PROM ANTI-KING? I LOVE IT. Except I am not loving Puck's new desire not to win with Lauren.
Why is the A/V club painting -- you know, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK, BECAUSE THIS PERFORMANCE KILLS ME. I saw it the other day, and guys, just based on his entrance, I like Jesse. Mostly, I love Rachel's faces and her anger and that moment of softness and hate-love singing and GOD.
(Also, best back-up choir of demons ever. /Tumblr joke)
Based on this, at least, what I like about Jesse and Rachel is that he is just as damn dramatic and driven and diva as she is. And their voices sound delicious together. WELCOME TO THE GLEE POLY FAMILY, JESSE. They're all assholes to each other a lot on this show, I guess the egg thing fits right in.
Woah there, Rachel, you have FUCKING NOT BEEN SUPPORTIVE OF FINN AND QUINN. I don't need you to be, but damn, don't lie about it.
Other than that, I love Rachel standing up to Finn. Do more of it.
Eggs confuse Brittany a lot. I love you, B. LOVE YOU.
God, Kurt is ADORABLE with all his prom giddiness.
THANK YOU, MERCEDES. THIS IS COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE SONG, ESPECIALLY THE WAY ARTIE SOMETIMES ACTS ALL AUTHORITATIVE FATHER FIGURE WHEN DATING. FUUUUCK.
However, I love Puck and Sam the wandering guitarists and I freaking ADORE Finn drumming all over shit. Let's Stomp it up around here.
BRITTANY. HOLY SHIT BRITTANY. YOU ARE AMAZEBALLS.
Kurt has a royal wedding prom outfit.
Gay Braveheart!
Finn and Blaine hanging out!
Oh, god, this scene is painful and truthful and amazing. God, Blaine. I just want to give you a big hug, you poor guy. And Kurt being so brave and true to himself and what he wants. And Finn being the supportive brother. And Burt so worried and trying to be supportive.
Wait. Wait. Karofsky has been assigned to protect Kurt? I FIND THIS SERIOUSLY PROBLEMATIC. I want Karofsky to redeem himself and be happy, but goddamn, I do not like that Kurt is the one reaching out to him.
Holy shit, Quinn looks unbelievable. I hate that she had to change so much to feel confident enough to believe in her own beauty though.
Mercedes is AMAZING. And SAM. SAM I LOVE YOU SAM.
God, Jesse is such an ASSHOLE and full of himself. HE AND RACHEL ARE PERFECT.
Also, didn't Finn egg Rachel at some point? So biggest hypocrite EVER?
JESUS CHRIST BRITTANY TINA AND MIKE DANCING GLEE POLY FAMILY FOR THE GODDAMN FUCKING WIN.
Stupid song, but damn, can Sam, Puck, and Artie perform together FOREVER? Also, DANCES. I LOVE DANCES. I NEED TO GO DANCING SOON.
Hahaha, Rachel either brought her own mic, or she really has bedazzled every microphone in Lima. God, Rachel, why are you singing to Finn? WOMAN.
MERCEDES AND SAM AT PROM, FUCK YEAH. NEXT YEAR, YOU SNEAK OUT OF PROM TO HOOK UP IN PUCK'S TRUCK, JUST SO YOU KNOW, DUDES.
FAIL PUCK AND ARTIE. FAIL. ARE YOU EVEN GOOD AT BEING A BAD BOY, PUCKERMAN? NO. NO YOU ARE NOT.
Brittany and Tina singing together is AMAZING. I wish Tina would get a fucking solo though.
I love everyone dancing. God, Finn, you're an idiot.
So I kinda knew this was coming. I avoided spoilers like woah, but I thought this was where it was going. And yet, FIGGINS WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? YOU DID NOT HAVE TO READ HIS FUCKING NAME. YOU COULD HAVE DEFUSED THIS SITUATION. WHY THE HELL DO ALL THE ADULTS SUCK?
(I really wanted Lauren to touch Quinn's hand there on stage, once Karofsky was named king and Santana was bragging. Just something small, but sympathetic.)
Rachel appreciates the drama of being slapped in the face. But also the kink of it. Get down, Rachel.
OH MY GOD, BRITTANY IS KNOCKING IT OUT OF THE PARK THIS EPISODE.
BRAD BRAD BRAD OMG BRAD SO PROUD OF THE KIDS.
Wow, this whole episode was basically GLEE POLY FAMILY FOR THE GODDAMN WIN, WASN'T IT?
I don't really have thoughts on the whole last bit, because it was phenomenal all the way through. Just phenomenal, from the time Kurt is crowned and on. There are things I wish we could have had added to it, but I loved it.
So mostly? I adored this freaking episode.
