Okay, here we go. I know a lot of people are really feeling happy about this episode and do not want to be brought down. You should probably not read this, then. There's some positive, but quite a bit of negative, too.
Hello! My name is Jailynn. I'm sorry to burst on your page like this but I have to say:
I love your comments on Glee because I felt the same way you did about a lot of it. I'll flat out say that Rachel is my lest favorite character like ever. I'd prefer someone stronger to lead the group (and frankly her big solo song was okay, but I honestly liked Mercedes "f-u, I like who I am" better). My biggest problem with Glee is the characters don't seem to grow or change. [With the exception of Puck at the moment, who appears to be trying to] It's frustrating to watch the show do the "wash, rinse, and repeat" take on story telling.
Quinn deserves better than that. (In fact they all do.) She could be such a deep character (and I'd love to see her team up with Lauren, simply because I have much love for them in fiction as friends- as shown by how many times I write them as such- *laughing*) The focus on the "triangle" and Quinn's desperate attempt to hold onto Finn, who I don't think is worth the effort both Rachel and Quinn put into him, left me cold and annoyed. It feels old. Been there, done that.
Not to mention, I'm like you in the fact that I want Tina to get more solos. The girl's got a killer voice. Show it off! *frustrated growl*
Moving away from what I don't like about the show, I have to say the mirror images that Puck and Lauren create make me a little giddy. I love their eyebrow/smirk flirting. I just need them to stay together forever. *laughing* They fill me with joy. Sam showed some back bone finally. Loved his sign. Mike is just epic. Tina can do so much with a look, and thank God because that's all she's allowed to do. Enjoyed Kurt and Blaine. Glad they are finally moving that story along.
Once again. Sorry for bursting in. I hope to talk to you soon. *g*
Oh, dude, never worry about bursting in. I post publicly to encourage discussion, always. I love when people stop by to talk!

YES, EXACTLY. It kills me that sometimes the characters do grow and change and then they're freaking reset because the show wants to tell the same old story again. I don't get it. And I am bracing myself for when Puck goes through the same thing; his current journey to personhood is one of my favorite parts of the show, as he grows and changes and becomes awesome as well as hot, and yet I do not trust the show to maintain it.
("I do not trust the show" is basically my mantra when it comes to Glee.)
Tina can do so much with a look, and thank God because that's all she's allowed to do.
RIGHT? I mean, total kudos to the actor for managing to do that, but just imagine what she could do with some freaking lines and songs! (Except, again, I do not trust the show. Quandary!)
I just need them to stay together forever. *laughing* They fill me with joy.
Me too! They are why I started watching the show again (I was so infuriated and frustrated by the show I broke up with it in early season one, but then sotto_voice's recap of "Silly Love Songs" thrust me back into the show and then I started writing fic and now here I am), and I am pretty sure I will break up with the show again if they mess up Lauren and Puck.
I just wanted to say YES on the whole character development, reset thing. I'm glad they have stopped having a weekly event of Will being an ass and then realizing he was an ass and then apologizing, only to do it all over again the next week. Keep the focus on the kids, please.
