I love that you did this from Ellen's POV. There's nowhere near enough Ellen fic, and this one's poignant and atmospheric.

I think my favorite bit is this part:

They stand together long into the night, until the black sky fades to blue and then lightens, yellow and orange and red. The trees, dark silhouettes, block the sunrise itself, but every time she blinks, the colors change, grow brighter, and the darkness flees.

It is a new day, a new dawn, and she is the last of her family.

Thank you so much. I quite love Ellen, and though I don't read a lot of Supernatural fic, I'm always intrigued by stories told from her point of view.

I'm really glad you liked that part in particular. I rewrote it a couple times, because I wasn't capturing the imagery I wanted, so I'm happy it finally came across.

Thank you so much for this. I'm very glad you picked this one of my requests, and that you wrote it from Ellen's POV. I agree with the previous commenter that there's not nearly enough Ellen-fic, and you wrote her thoughts and feelings on the situation in a very believable way. Thanks again for this!

Oh, this was amazingly descriptive and so painful to read. I love Ellen and you really did her justice with this. Well done.

Thank you so much! I love Ellen, too, and was really nervous about writing from her point of view. I'm glad you liked it.
