[tv on dvd] buffy season two

Dec 31, 2006 04:25

Just got back from watching Buffy with A. and B. (Dude, I just realized--A., B., and C. were watching Buffy. I maybe need some sleep, because that's hilarious.) Anyway, we're on season two, and today we reached "What's My Line". We watched part one and then, though it was late, A. demanded we watch part two because she couldn't stand the cliff ( Read more... )

I am liking your plan: It's nice to bring new people to the fandom, and when that fandom is Whedonverse... wow.

It really is nice to introduce people to a new fandom, and especially with it being Buffy, because back when it was new, everyone I knew online already watched it and no one offline was interested, so this is a fun change, to have someone so excited about it.

(In later seasons of both Buffy and Angel, J. started watching it with me, and he became rather fond of Spike, but it wasn't the same, he didn't have all the canon knowledge from earlier episodes, and he kept asking me questions instead of watching them for himself.)

A. was a pretty easy convert, she already loved Firefly and Serenity, so convincing her to give Buffy a try didn't take much. Now she's addicted and can't stop watching it.

It also inspired me to order the seasons of Angel I was missing, so that when we get there, we can watch each Buffy episode with the Angel ep that aired that week.

Brilliant!

I can't wait to receive them, I haven't seen any of the seasons all the way through (except season one, which I own) and I haven't seen the entire series in the proper order, so I'm looking forward to experiencing that for the first time.

Since I've had all five seasons I've watched straight through twice. Angel feels like a series of novels, building to a finale through an expanding series of story arcs.

I know what you mean. I loved introducing my daughter to Buffy through my DVDs. I'm sad that she's seen them all now. I have had a hard time getting her interested in Angel, but then I don't like it nearly as much as Buffy (though I do like it), so maybe she can tell.

I can understand being sad that she's seen them all, I already find myself dragging out A.'s viewing time, just doing an episode or two at a time, because I don't want it to end. Watching it with someone who hasn't seen it before is almost like watching it fresh myself, I keep seeing all these little details I'd noticed the first time around and then took for granted in later viewings and it's a lot of fun.
