as hard as it is to say, especially considering how much time I spent trying to truly enjoy the latter:

Been on this Lars Von Trier kick lately and just want to put it out there: I think Riget/The Kingdom actually accomplishes all the things Twin Peaks thought it was trying to do.  I invested alot of time watching Twin Peaks, thinking I was enjoying it, and watching it constantly trying to make up my mind about it.  I think ultimately it really loses track of itself and becomes a parody of itself and a bit obnoxious. Though I generally enjoyed it, and most of David Lynch's movies, I found the series ultimately very disappointing. Granted, The Kingdom is a fraction of the length, and because of it, stays more focused.  Even with the foreign language, it's clear the actors are far more compelling. Less stiff at least.  Of course, I've yet to create a better television series, and it feels like expressing an opinion on a tv show matters about as much as expressing an opinion on the exact degree you consider room temperature to be, but I had to get it out there.  If you have time to watch weird/supernatural happenings in an isolated community populated by oddballs,  do the one made by the guy who also did "Breaking the Waves"

And concerning the follow up: the American remake of "The Kingdom" (Kingdom Hospital) by Stephen King was apparently so horrible there was an entire series created just to make fun of it.
