Blue Beetle #25

Mar 26, 2008 16:16

Every time I read an issue of Blue Beetle, I think to myself, "This is the greatest issue ever! Next month's issue can't possibly top this!"

Then next month comes around and the cycle repeats itself.

Blue Beetle #25 was no exception to this. What a fantastic issue! I want to go back now and re-read the entire 2-year run!

It was great! Raf's art was even better than usual, too. But the last page felt so ... ended. Hopefully the new writers can keep the momentum going...

I know exactly what you mean about the ending.

I literally squealed through the entire book. Literally. I wish I had recorded myself reading it so I could post.

Ah, I know that feeling.
Except I'm pretty sure this issue will be better than the next few, seeing how Rogers is gone. I'm not raggin' on Pfefier, really, but I mean. . . Rogers deserves temples built in his name.

Yeah, his footsteps are going to be hard to follow. I have hope, though.

Yeah. These past few months I've been worrying my mother because she can't understand why I've gotten so worked up over a comic book.

I plan to go back and reread everything from #13 on - before RL ambushed me I had this HUGE essay about the pacing and how it changed in the book and how if you didn't adjust your perceptions it felt like the bonding with the Scarab happened too fast. Still think the switch from Scarab-speak to readable text seemed to happen too quickly, but... I think it was done that way in order to keep from tipping off readers too quickly. (That, and with the numerous mistakes made by letterers with Scarab-speak, maybe they figured it was time to move on from that?)

and I'm making icons.

I don't think a Scarab/Skeets book would last long. ;)

One issue would be amusing, maybe. Then the Scarab could learn EVEN MORE sarcasm. :)
