i would never put your name here, but here it is. rémi. it started with you coming up to me at a party, we started talking and you asked for my number. i remember thinking that you have such dreamy eyes and we talked about airports, how you love changi airport in comparison to charles de gaulle because there's more fun stuff to pass the transit waiting time, singapore airlines and how i never fly with them, my independent travels, new york and how you were looking for an engineering internship in singapore. i just looked at you and i wondered why anyone would want an internship in singapore, and all you said was 'because there's this girl from singapore and i want to be near her' and gave me that warm smile that melted my heart. over the loud music, i could hear you word for word, as you leaned closer and closer to me, until i could hear you breathing in my ear, you tried to convince me to go downtown, even though i was tired, and i needed to wake up early the next day to study, and in that noisy crowded room you leaned in, holding my waist with your left arm and cupping my cheek with your right hand, and kissed me with passion i never felt before. i pulled away and you looked me in the eyes, but you didn't let me go, because you knew that you took my breath away. you asked me again, and i said no, and you pulled me towards you, because now we both wanted it. we both sat there talking for a while longer, but you had your arm around my shoulder and one hand on my thigh, making sure the whole room knew that i belonged to you. you sent me home, and in the cab, you held on to me because the cab driver was speeding and i was scared. you left your drunk friend at the lobby while we kissed in the stairwell, like 2 schoolkids hiding from adults, and we just stood there, holding each other, staring into each other's eyes, taking in the moment. i thought that was it, you wouldn't remember me once you sobered up the next day, but i got a text from you asking me out. i said no, i didn't know you well enough for a date. instead, you came down 2 floors just to hold me for a while and leaned in to smell my hair from above while you put your arm around my waist, telling my friends that i'm yours. when you were about to leave, you politely asked me for a kiss, even though you already knew the answer to my heart.

we went out for dinner the next weekend, and we went back to your place where we watched entourage till i fell asleep in your arms, overwhelmed by the smell of your cologne. you tried to kiss me in front of your roommate, but i was shy and self-conscious, so you went for my forehead instead and gave me a hug and told me you'd text me the next day.

you once called me a stupid girl because i wouldn't let you in, even though we both knew we wanted each other, you knew i wanted to be with you. you held me so many times, even when you were angry with me for not knowing what i really wanted out of this. it's a winter fling, but it was worth the heartache. i never knew why you chose me, out of the other girls, you never ever said why even though i asked you so many times. you just looked at me and smiled, kissing my forehead and we'd go back to doing what we were doing, leaving me to pondering the mystery. standing next to you always made me self-conscious because i always felt small and miniscule when in the company of the other girls, the girls who were more beautiful, more like you, but you chose me, so i don't really know. you'll always be my special someone. we never had any special term for the other, but my friends always tell me your eyes light up when i'm across the room. maybe. i don't know. we never really resolved it in the end, so let's just leave it at that. you made my 2009, no doubt about that, with a smell of cologne mixed with beer and jack daniel's.
