money for nothing
This morning before work I was finally able to contact someone at the publishing company regarding my computer textbook and the lack of student resource CD which was supposed to contain all the files that were needed to complete the assignments in the book and thus complete the assignments for class. The girl in Customer Service was very nice and took the ISBN number of the book and then there was a long pause. "Um," she said, "that book isn't supposed to come with a data files CD. All the files are on our website."
"Yes," I replied, still mostly calm. "The files for Level 1 are on the website but not for the Appendix." She transfers me to IT Tech Support and the guy tells me the same thing and I repeat myself, with tears in my voice because I was getting so frustrated with this whole situation.
This lovely man in IT said, "Here's a different link and that should give you all the files for Level 2." And lo, there were files for the rest of the textbook! I thanked him profusely and he then said, "Your instructor should have given you all this."
"I know," I replied, the anger evident in my voice, I'm sure. "My instructor is completely incompetent." I thanked him again and hung up.
I am really seriously thinking about writing an e-mail to my instructor and CCing the head of the department because this is completely ridiculous. I've received no help from my instructor and have had to go out of my way to get what I need -- things that should have been provided when I shelled out the money for this course AND the $100 for the textbook. So completely furious, even now.
I'm especially pissed off that when I e-mailed the instructor about not having the files for the Appendix she parroted back to me the website link THAT I FOUND AND E-MAILED TO HER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER when no one could find the student data files. I'M THE ONE WHO FOUND THE ORIGINAL LINK FOR THE FILES They just didn't include the links to Level 2. But I'm the one who found the link -- Not My Instructor.
SO, SO angry.
