Of all time? Well top contender has to be Grey's Anatomy. I feel that has to be on the list just for the sheer amount of time I've invested in the show and it's characters. Yeah there are male characters in it, but who are we kidding, it's female driven. The title character is female so that's enough for me.
Then of course, due to again time investment, Private Practice makes the list. Again male characters, but mainly revolved around the ladies.
The Good Wife also makes my list, and I'm going to try and sneak In Plain sight on there as well. I'm not sure it's a female driven show, but it tends to revolve around the main female character so I'm hoping it does.
Then, my perhaps surprise entry, and current favourite is Scandal. It's probably a controversial one for my f-list as I don't think many of you watched. Probably even vowed not to after the mess Shonda made post season 3 of Greys.
What can I say? I'm a total sucker for a political drama. I get that politics doesn't really get involved in this, but with a Washington back drop it is pretty much right up my street.
I kind of love how kick-ass Olivia Pope is, with I also kind of love Abbey. Quinn I'm not so interested in. Mellie though. I could watch that woman all day. She's so conniving and manipulative. I loved this last season where some of her motives were explained. She is the perfect adversary for Olivia. I just wish sometimes it was a little more harder to watch. You know, like you need to concentrate so you can keep up with what is happening. Basically, I'd love to see what would happen if Shonda handed over her writers room to Aaron Sorkin for a season.
I doubt it'll be any good this next season, as the show has reached its fourth season. I have a theory that Shonda's ability to keep a handle on her characters dissipates after three seasons. Her interest wains and she picks another show up. Maybe Scandal will prove me wrong, but I doubt it.
Having said all this, I've completely forgot to mention Orange Is The New Black. Totally female led, and completely amazing. Well written, well acted. Totally addictive. In fact it upsets me that I've got wait a whole year to watch season three. That's the one I'd rec to anyone. It's fabulous. If you haven't watched, what are you doing reading this?
