McCain for Griffindor and Obama for Ravenclaw.
So I felt Obama should be in Tyrell because the guy has amazing PR and a more scholarly attitude which fits with Oldtown and the Reach.
I first had the feeling that McCain would be a perfect Arryn but the I thought of the "DO NOW, THINK LATER" Baratheons and I sort of went with them.

"DO NOW, THINK LATER" Baratheons
Ha! I am amused.

Of course the same could be said for the wild!Starks. (Hey, do you think Ned was friends with Robert because he reminded him of Brandon?)

Ned has a tendency to be friends with people who are more extroverted and active than himself, I think it's just an energy thing, he gets lifted up and reminded that there's a living world out there beyond his godswood.

I think he's friends with Robert "because" Robert was there and in childhood you have more friends due to proximity/availability than compatibility. But I think the introvert/extrovert dynamic is a part of the friendship's success (such as it was).

Haha, I wanted to add something like the last bit (and how two alpha males never mix) but... I didn't. :/

Hahah, well I think their bond was sincere if nothing else, and a lot of it was just like two high school pals growing apart after leading different lives, but even then Ned took his buddy's death really hard. I think he kept seeing young!Robert instead, but he wasn't totally blind to what his friend became, to his credit. Who knows how close they were when younger. And yes, read into that what you will :P

Interesting, I don't see Ned as an alpha male, I see him as a beta in an alpha's role (and his wife as the opposite).

I will, I will :D

Yes, that's what I mean. Because Ned is beta-ish he and Robert got along so well. If it were different (like Brandon and Robert... Can't imagine that going as well as Robert and Ned) they wouldn't have been so close.

XD Can you blame me? I'm here on the other side of the ocean but judging by the things I pick I don't really get the feeling McCain thinks things through.

It's the whole veteran, my-family-are-fighters thing. Like, you have the Laughing Storm and you just know the Baratheons must be really proud of their ancestors and their fighting skillz. The Arryns sort of miss the whole military thing (Though we can't really judge by looking at Jon and Sweetrobin) and no politician ever seemed much of an High as Honour type.

Could be, but I think Ned was also impressed by larger-than-life Robert. Young Robert strikes me as boisterous whereas Brandon (this is just my impression) is a courteous young man with a temper.

I think Brandon was overall probably more responsible than Robert, less roving too, but then, yano, it's Robert. Not hard to be more responsible and loyal than Robert ;) I think (since we have to invent him) Brandon was to Ned as Robb is to Jon, in some ways. He was still a Stark and raised with all those silly honorable virtues :P
