Saturday:
1pm - Lord Sedition & Arcane gig
6pm - Pirates of the Caribbean 2
Sunday:
12.30am: Car crash in Milton.
Monday:
11-12ish pm - Discovered Cambrian House and Crowd-Sourcing

Okay, I'm going to talk about the gig first, but I'll just say now that I'm fine, my neck is fucking sore and my arm and both knees hurt but theres no lasting damage to me from the accident on Sunday morning.

Some years ago a band who called themselves Dungeon visited Brisbane and played a gig, they went on to play some of the biggest heavy music festivals in Australia (Metal for the Brain in... 2002 I think was probably their career highlight) then they faded from the scene. This year they changed their name to Lord and staged a comeback tour supported by Sedition(who were great) and Arcane(who weren't so great).
So, on Saturday at 1pm at the Globe Theater in the valley, me and what could have been up to 100 other metal heads piled in to a sloping carpeted room and thrashed out to some of the best live music I've ever heard :D

Arcane were shit, there is no nicer way of putting it, I apologize to any Arcane fans out there reading this but it is true, also the lead singer (who had some issues with the higher notes I might add) looked like he would have been better off as a rapper.. Thankfully Sedition were great, they played a mix of their own stuff and Iron Maiden covers - two words to describe this - FUCK YEAH! XD As for Lord... Oh fuck yeah, awesome :D they played mostly Dungeon songs but they rocked hard nonetheless.

Pirates YARR!
Well..
WARNING PLOT SPOILERS
Me, Kylii (aka Lilmissnorti) and a bunch of her friends - all in costume - invaded the cinema at south bank to see the new Prats of the Caribbean movie... I'm not sure we should have bothered to be honest..
The movie opens with will and liz getting arrested for helping jack escape at the end of the last movie, the East India Company then offers will a full pardon (for him, liz and jack) in exchange for running a small errand - the head of the company wants jacks compass, it turns out that jacks broken compass points not just to the cursed Aztec gold,  but to the thing its holder most desires.. *yawn* The company were intending to use this to capture the heart of Davy Jones, Captain of the Flying Dutchman and force him to do their bidding (him and his Kraken)
Jack dies, the East India Company gets Jones' heart and the Black Pearl is sunk. Oh and Captain Barbossa will be back for Pirates 3...

After leaving the cinema we went off to the Plough on south bank for a few drinks (Kylii had half a nip of scotch) and then went to the cafe adjoining the cinema for food, were we remained for a couple of hours, having dropped her house mates off, Kylii began driving me home... Auchenflower to Gordon Park, its about 15min, we made it as far as Milton before her car decided it wanted to stall, she of course jumped on the clutch thus removing her foot from the brake - we hit a Camry which hit a 4WD both stopped at the lights. $2000 of damage done to her car - engine cracked, radiator and air con block pushed back 1/2 inch into the engine, a smashed headlight and some nasty panel damage, minor damage to the 4WD and the Camry escaped with only a bent number plate. Not cool.

Now to spill the beans on a rather interesting website, Cambrian House is a Canadian startup who have already had the amusing idea of delivering 1000 free pizzas to the Google offices (the Googleplex). Well the main purpose of Cambrian House is Crowd-Sourced software, this works on a similar principal to Rent-a-Coder except for a few things:
1) with crowd-sourcing, you only do the bits of a software project that interest you - this is a bit like open-source
2) you get paid royalties if your work is accepted instead of a lump sum (or no money in the case of open-source)

I have to say I like their business model and have already beaten their brain challenge PWNIT (http://www.cambrianhouse.com/pwnit/index.php) and should be receiving free stuff :D
nb: for those who cant do it, there is a walk-through posted in some guys blog because he got cranky and decided they hadn't mailed his free stuff fast enough :P
silly bugger :D
yes you can google it XD

Also, Microsoft are getting behind Open-Source by launching a coding community website called codeplex (http://www.codeplex.com)
