Well. Now that it seems all the new lambs have been brought to our pleasant little hamlet, might I ask a question?

Is there anyone in this village licensed to be a beautician? A hair stylist? Manicurist? Anyone? There is only so much a lady can do for herself.

And only so long she can stand neglecting the finer things in life.

acting normal, asking questions, beauty is only skin deep, new feathers, drama queen, idle chatter, girly time~

I can highly recommend the seamstress at All Passions. [Very, very highly, judging by Dawn's reaction to the new gown.]

Oh, yes, well. For clothes and such certainly. But what of our nails? Our hair? What about getting facials and spa treatments?

We're terribly lacking in that department.

Lead powder? I'm not sure, Miss Sutcliffe. You might be surprised how many men prefer women who haven't been fussed over too much.

Oh? And do you count yourself among them, love?

Well. I won't say I don't appreciate when a woman freshens up a bit, but I do. God made you all very pleasing to look on and you shouldn't worry yourselves so much.

But a bit of enhancement upon our God given talents never hurts. A bit of rouge, longer lashes and the like.

Rouge.

Yes, you know, for the lips or cheek. Something to enhance the natural color.

Let me guess. You have a firm distaste for it.

...Frenchmen wear rouge.

Ugh, no, not in my time. It's a well accepted cosmetic for women by then. Powders or mixtures of all shades for the cheek and lips.

I-I meant...never mind. It isn't my business.

...What. If there is something you need to say to me, dearest Kennedy, then please speak your mind.

...It isn't that no women use it in my time. It's just always struck me as a bit unnecessary. Frivolous. [Silly. French.]

Well, it is. It's terribly frivolous. Absolutely unnecessary.

But it makes us feel pretty and so we use it.

I'll concede, Miss Sutcliffe, though I cannot hope to understand.

[That gets a laugh from her.]

Oh, I wouldn't expect a man to understand, love. Women don't even understand it and we're the ones doing it.
