[Grell's out looking for a certain Captain Jack Sparrow and so he'll be wandering the village, looking as nonchalant as possible. He'll go in and out of stores, around the buildings, and then out into the woods. Feel free to notice him or encounter him up until he finally finds our French-speaking Captain.]

Captain, my Captain, where can you be

death god whimsy, acting normal, i do so love my work, such an actress, idle chatter

[Action] FOREST IT IS THEN lists_to_port September 11 2010, 00:51:00 UTC
[A certain Captain Jack Sparrow just happens to be in the forest behind the school, staring up at a very tall tree. He's not interested in chopping it; that work can wait until he recovers from the mallynap effects.

Instead, he has decided this is the perfect spot for another project. You've got three tall, straight trees in a line--fore, main, and mizzen--and plenty of others around them to use for anchors. If he can get enough rope and get himself into the trees, there's a fair chance at knotting up a perfect simulation of the lines of a three-masted galleon. Perfect for practice, or for teaching aspiring cabin girls the ropes.

And that's when a familiar voice interrupts his thoughts.]

Uh--yes? Hullo?

[Finding him in the forest, out behind the school, is a little too close to the village for comfort, but since school isn't yet in session perhaps this is the best place to be for now. Grell stops when he hears Jack call out and smiles at him, emerging from the shadows of the trees.]

Hello.

Ah, Grell. Out for a walk, are we? Je ne m'attendais pas...[Bugger...]...I did not expect to see you here, mate.

....Uh...I mean, milady.

Yes, thought a bit of air might clear my head. I've been in such a...mood lately.

And what of you, mon Capitaine?

Were taken by the metal men, and now they've given me some kind of French disease.

Not that French disease. That I know of. A different one. Un problème plus étrange beaucoup.

And your "mood," darling--have they taken you, too?

[.........................]

I see.

[And time to recover.]

Oh, no, they haven't touched me. More...that I've been feeling a bit...stir crazy lately, hm? Nothing to do for me here, after all. It does put a girl into such a bind when she has so little to do.

What you need is a hobby, eh? Somethin' to pass the time.

Or perhaps just someone to focus my attentions on.

Oh, that reminds me.

[The pirate holds out a work-roughened, scarred-up palm.]

Your promise to read me, eh?

I did indeed....

[Grell reaches out and takes his hand, examining his palm.]

Mm....I see. Well, that is very interesting...

Is it? I were rather hoping for "profitable".

I'd need to read a little...deeper in order to see that far, love.

[Jack frowns. He holds out his other palm, a questioning look on his face.]

Well, read away, milady. When the gypsy girl did me, she only needed the one.

Not your palm, dear. Palm reading can only tell so much.

But first, an oath - I tell you the fate of your soul, you breathe not a word to another person I'm capable of doing so. I wouldn't want the others to...crowd me.

Oaths...tricksy things, them.

What's there to bind me?
