thelostgirl13 What was the first record you owned? Cassette? CD?
Vinyl - Banana Splits by The Dickies (Single)
Cassette - Kylie's second album
CD - Paula Abdul (I think)
What was the last one you bought of each?
Vinyl - I bought a stack of second hand Wonder Stuff 12"s from a fantastic place called The Rock Box in Camberley.
Cassette - something or other by Radiohead. It was before I got a CD player in my car. I found it in a charity shop for 50p.
CD - At War With The Mystics by The Flaming Lips
What was the first concert you attended?
Really don't remember
What was the last?
The last one I went to was James Marsters last year. It's depressing. I've been trying to talk the BF into going to more and he agrees in principle but backs out at the last minute. :-(
What was the first song you slow danced to?
no idea
Do you associate any particular songs in your life with particular people? Friends? Boy/Girlfriends? Family?
BF - Angels (our first slow dance at a friend's wedding and he plays it on the piano rather well)
Dad - The Birdie Song (he's deaf, so the visual aspect has alway appealed to him)
Mum - My Way (she wants Sinitra played at her funeral, I'd rather have the Sid Vicious version myself)
Brother - Bat out of Hell (we used to have great fun listening to Meatloaf when we were kids)
Ben (nephew) - Don't Look Back in Anger (he used to sing it to me when he was very little)
Conventions - Bohemian Rhapsody (I've only joined in once) or the Time Warp or Star Trekkin'...
The old time regulars at Cons: The Macarena - they'd do the Macarena to anything!
Jim and Carl (uni friends) - Along with a couple of others, they used to DJ an indie night once a week at a local nightclub. They would always finish with Hey Jude, then Smells Like Teen Spirit, then the Postman Pat theme. My friend Beth and I would sit on the edge of the stage most of the night ("we're with the DJ's" *wink*), drink black cherry two dogs and make outrageous song requests that only we'd want to dance to.
When you think of junior high, what is the first song to come to mind? High school? College?
High School (Seniors) = Push It by Salt 'n' Pepa
College = Cigarettes and Alcohol by Oasis
Uni - You're Gorgeous by Babybird
If you've been married, what song did you dance to at your wedding? If you haven't been, what song would you like to?
Not married. I guess we'd have to do the corny thing and go with Angels. Followed up by Can't Stand Me Now by The Libertines (for irony and because we both love that song).
Has anyone ever told you a song reminds them of you? Or has anyone serenaded you or sung a certain song to you? (parents, significant others, etc...)
It sounds really bad, even though it wasn't meant that way. It was a joke amongst friends. I was the editor on a short film at college and I was a little bit.. er.. forthright about how I felt it should be done... So, um, Little Miss Can't Be Wrong by The Spin Doctors. The rest of the production team serenaded me on the dancefloor of a local club.
The BF and I have been known to get drunk and sing our own very special (out of tune) version of Paradise by the Dashboard Light at each other. Does that count?
