Book Review: Between the Lines

May 20, 2016 13:28

This is not the kind of book I would ever pick up and read, but my mother in law asked my husband to give it to me because a friend of her read it and she found it good. I'm 30 and my mother in law is older than me (I won;t say her age because it's not mine to tell) and her friend hasn't been in her teens for a while now, so I don't know why she picked up this book.

I never read YA romantic novels and there is a reason. I just can's stand cheesy in books. I can deal with it in TV shows and movies for some mysterious reason, but not in book! Maybe because I started reading adult novels pretty quickly without going through that phase of a reader's life. But this is not even a YA book to me... It's a child book where a 15 yo girls falls in love with a character in a book and she starts talking to him and - guess what? - he's actually alive and he wan't to get out and be with her. So they start this quest, trying to get him out and in the end they succeed of course (and in a pretty silly way that doesn't make any sense)

The only thing I liked about the book was that it was written by a mother and a daughter together. The kid had the idea and for 2 years they worked on it during weekends. I think it must have been a pretty good bonding experience for the two of them, but I don't think they wrote a YA book unfortunately so I can't give it more than 2 stars... I will actually give 1 because the ending was just so predictable and cheesy and I just didn't like it. Sorry!

P.S. I read it as quickly as I could because I want to spend time with books that I know I might like and I finished it just because when I start something I just have to get to the end of it, but it has been hard! :D
