English
the only language i'm proficient in. grew up on it, lived on it, speak it read it write it.
Literature
it's fun, but up to a point there's only so much links i can find between shylock and a massacaring horde of blighted potatoes that threaten a hunger strike...and i can only lie that much, too
History
Khrushchev!
(gesundheit)
Brezhnev!
(gesundheit)
and you wonder why it was the cold war.
Geography
Hoyt-burgess-hoffman-david-mann-malthus-boserup-bidrent theory-cbd-urban development-central place theory-primate city-peak land value intersection(plvi)...hang on, i think you lost me somewhere near..."good morning".
Math
call me a purist, but i don't think letters and numbers should ever go together. throw in operational signs, powers, and a few esoteric, far flung mathematical greek symbols, and you have achieved a state of mind-splitting headache. then seeing the test question is like being prescribed a large mallet for the headache. the test score is pretty much predictable, but i'm always blindly hopeful...so the test score serves as a catalyst for severe haemorrhage.
Chemistry
somehow an eternal optimist must have put the "try" in chemistry. in the spirit of "do or do not, there is no try", i opt for "or".
Physics
the only science i can understand, with or without shortcut
Chinese
One english-chinese dictionary: $15
One year of tuition: $2880
5 years struggling with a language composed of 5000 distinct semagrams and 250000 combinations that sound or look or sound and look alike, with the only purpose of tapping into a country's growing economy, and having every chinese teacher tell you that you'd love the language: priceless
For everything else, there's suicide
