H/C rant

Sep 19, 2005 19:08

Don't get me wrong. I like H/C fics. I even love them.

But.

I hate when it's done badly, sloppily. First of all, the 'Hurt' part: Why does it always have to be rape? Don't the authors think that there can be other traumatic events as well? I am one hundred and twenty percent convinced that there are other possibilities than that, and when it ( Read more... )

I absolutely agree. you're so right that there are many pretty bad done fics. As you know I haven't read that many fics, or well, I dunno.. I read a lot and some of done were not that elaborated and "researched" for lack of a better word.

It's about writing fast, getting the next chapter b/c people want it.NOW. It sucks. Hey, I'll send you an email witht he B5 fic I once wrote.. the one that I am proud of though it's long not finished. I just want you to tell me what you think about it, can you do that for me?

And btw, I love you!!!!

of course I can do that for you, gladly, even if I'm so not into the B5 fandom :)

I noticed you changed your journal caption to 'in love with snarry', which I *luuuurve* nearly as much as I love you.

And yes, it seems to be about providing fics fast with no regard to quality. Who are we readers that we can push authors into that kind of behaviour? I don't know. I know we don't have a right on any author's writing.

But then again, any self-respecting author should be strong enough to tell their readers no.

I love you too.

miss you.

hehe.. yeah, I AM in love with snarry, my OTP, you see?

But, imagine you post a fi and you LOVE to get replies like:

"OH, wow, that was great!! can't wait for more. When can you post it? Please, I need more!!!"

It sucks. I think most WIPs I follow suffer from quality now. The beginning is great but then. :( >_> I think that's why I can never end a story. When I lack my muse I always stop and not just write ANYTHING. *shruggs*

well, if I LOVE to get replies like that, I'll most certainly make sure that the quality of the fic doesn't falter.

My general principle is not to post WIPs at all. Of course, that policy has the drawback that there's always the danger of not ending it. But then again, not ending something which is lacking to begin with is certainly better than putting it up, receiving notes like the one you mentioned, and at some point being forced to decide whether to continue on a lower level (if you so wish), or to abandon the story altogether (which is frustrating for the readers as well).

As for the ending of a story: we will. And if I have to bodily put you in front of your computer in order to write, write, write.

Count on it.

LOL
Okay, I think that's pretty okay. After all I DO want to write it.
So no problem there, okay, hon?

Btw, I was thinking that we coulsd create either a journal for both of us to post in or a community, I'm not sure that I there is an options for allowing 2 persons to post. But I kinda like the idea and since we could make it private, except for perhaps icon or fic posts... well, what do you think? and I thought about "New Life" or "New Evil fury" as name. Why? Hm... Think about it ;D

of course we can create a community and only give posting access to ourselves.

'New Life/New Evil Fury' as a name for the fic or the community?

hmmm. New life. Could refer to childbirth but then again, that has nothing to do with us. So that one is out.

Then, it could refer to a new beginning, or the beginning of something new. That makes sense. But not enough sense to match "Evil Fury" into the equation.

So what's an Evil Fury? Were you the cynicist I am, I could think love. But you are not, so... What's evil? I mean apart from the fact that evil does not exist? Is Evil Fury an anagram? *frowns*

I need a pointer.

So I was quasi right. New Evil Fury is sort of an anagram (not quite since some chars are used more than once) for Eruwen and Fiverly.

without the 'and' of course.

so what I think you did is you went to some anagram generator and got something along the lines of 'Re New Evil Fury' or something (which is funny too, since it could be from an email header) and then just cut of the Re.

Same with New Life.

No, I came up with it myself.

New Evil Fury has every single letter of our names except one silly "e". and New life, well there I didn't use every letter.

But I dind't check any name generator. Shall w euse one of them or something complete different?

one 'e' and one 'r'. But, and now watch me being mean, for someone who can't do anagrams isn't addicted to Tom Marvolo Riddle it was quite adequate.

I'm all for New Evil Fury btw... but if there's any acceptable way of making it an anagram... well, you know me.
