Lovely stuff...

And I love the fact that I'm not the only comparing Martha and River favourably !

Well, I love them both as characters, and I think the Doctor does too, so there's no arguing with him!

Good mention of Martha as commented by the reviewer above me. I'm tired of comparisons that deal with who's better than the other or who's more important.

I do love how there's a child between them. It was never hinted or alluded to, but then again, spoilers, and River couldn't tell him.

Their child is one of my little brainstorms as to a)what would be the one time he could say his name and b)why River would be sorry to tell him in FotD.

Watching the end again, it seems tremendously important to Ten that there is a specific reason she knows his name and he wants to know more, but she can't tell him, and if he knows it's some sort of Time Lord tradition, he's going to be pretty churned up by the implications, I reckons. Thought it had more possibilities as an idea than just some sort of wedding thingywotsit.

And if he made her promise never to say the name again, then she's sorry because she's breaking her promise.

I really liked this and I'm adding it to my memories. I liked how you looked into all areas of their relationship; kissing, getting hit and what not. I like how you compared River to Martha, which I agree with in terms of their personalities. I also think it interesting that you added a child between them, which would be a crowning point for their relationship. I alluded to this in my own fanfics too although in mine I made it Miranda... for no real reason.

Anyway, I also liked the ending: "...the Doctor allowed himself to pretend this was a happy ending." It's tragic because it won't be, even though we know she will at least live on in some form.

Oooh, lovely.

He felt his head swimming with the sensation of it, like she'd completed a circuit with the soft pressure she applied there.

That's just beautiful.

Great fic. Love all the hints, and the way you came up with so many nice intertwining ideas. I was just thinking the other day about what if they'd had a child and he didn't know at the time- and its fun to see that you had the same thought. Neat ideas!
