Yeah...I'm random. Get over it

On Ravelry, the case of the Duggars comes up every so often. You know, those people on the TLC show "19 Kids and Counting" (or maybe 20? I don't know). My issue is that it does effect me. It effects everyone. Over population effects everyone. But it's not just the Duggars. It's every person who decides that a large family is a great idea. I'm not sure why people don't understand that over population is a problem. I mean... come on! Everyone knows about China's one child policy. How do we not see how that relates to us?

True. I remember reading about an ultra-orthodox Jewish great-(great?)-grandmother in her 90s who had over 1,400 descendants (from kids on down). Yeah, she didn't even know all of their names. Not that I blame her...

I guess it does depend a bit on how everyone wants to live, though. We're screwed if everyone wants a McMansion and a Hummer. Though the thought that we'll be okay so long as there's billions of people on the bottom rung who barely scrape together enough to live day to day isn't all that happy a thought.

30,000 children under age 5 die every day of hunger, malnutrition, and curable disease (like diarrhea) in third world countries alone. Why doesn't everyone know this, and know that it's caused by overpopulation, and know that they can EASILY do something about it?
