Dude, I suck at knitting! :X :X :X

The fucking seed stitch is driving me crazy as I've not been able to do one even though it's incredibly simple!

MIL taught me the basics on Christmas. Whilst there I learned how to cast on, knit, purl, alternate knit and purl rows for a stockinette stitch and cast off. She then told me I should practice alternating the knit and purl stitch on the same row later on. When I first tried it, I ended up with a mess on the first row. She neglected to mention that I needed to move the yard to the front or back before doing a new stitch. Luckily I found a YouTube video and immediately saw the step I was leaving out.

So, since I had the basics I thought I'd try an uber easy pattern:

I looked up how to do a seed stitch, started it but seemed to get a mess. Ripped out everything and started again...a few times. Finally got it going, but ended up with ribbing! I'd misunderstood the whole alternating which stitch you start a row with. So I finally understand and realise you're supposed to knit a purl and purl a knit. Try again...but end up making stupid mistakes and I can't figure out how to go back and fix them.

I don't know how many times I've started trying to do this stitch and not have it work out.

I think what's hardest about knitting is not knowing how to correct a mistake. I keep getting two stitches twisted and I don't know how to fix that. Or I noticed that I accidentally did two purls in a row but I can't figure out how to undo those stitches and get them back on the left needle. Or something slips and I can't figure out what. And then all the end of my rows are loose and crappy looking.

I need a knitting tutor! And probably some better yard? I'm assuming working with crap yarn doesn't make it any easier?
