Thursday and Friday, my ignition switch kept locking, so it was only with great difficulty and jiggling I was able to get it to work each time. Needless to say, this discouraged car use! Since I had schools both days, this led to a late night conversation on Thursday with ND when it look like I would not be able to start the car at all.
I booked it with my mechanic on Monday. Normally, I drop the car off early. But, naive me, I thought that, since it was only the ignition switch rather than a major part or service, dropping it off late morning would be fine. When I got there, my mechanic cheerfully informed me, depending on how busy the lock place was, I might not get the car back until Tuesday.
We had a school Tuesday. My car had the gear for the school in it. This led to cogitation through possibilities and conferring with ND. Which ended up with me training to his office in Clifton Hill, to pick up the other station wagon with the plan of driving to my mechanic in North Melbourne to transfer the gear and ND would pick up my car.
Just as I was leaving, I checked with my mechanic. All fixed, could I please pick up my car before 5pm. No problem!
It did wipe out my afternoon, but I got to see ND's other office, and travel on a rail line I don't normally travel on.
Meanwhile, I had got a call from RB, whose armour was in my car. He wanted to fight at Arrowsreach that night, but was carless: could I talk to AS about getting his armour to her? She was, however, at Uni in Clayton.
But B lives in Brunswick. So, a solution. I drive to B's place, drop the armour off, he takes it to Arrowsreach.
Thus it was done.
At least my ignition switch now works nicely and it is very nice to have a key which actually goes on my key ring with the "lock" and "unlock" buttons both working properly.
The schools this week and last have generally been pretty good. We normally have very little in the first two weeks of term, but we had three schools in the first week and two in the second.
We also need more presenters. Anyone interested?
