Formula one driver
breaks leg in bicycling accident: those things are dangerous I tell you.
Not exactly a terrific graphic about someone who is
a touch anti-Semitic given there was a certain book with the same title (in German).
The removal of Aboriginal children
continues: Black children are being removed at 10 times the rate of white children, despite a tripling in the number of Aboriginal welfare workers.
The total suggests that about one in six Aboriginal children in NSW is now a ward of the state.
The Labour Party Government
loses badly to the Nationals in New Zealand. The PM elect is looking to create
a broad coalition government. Ministers from allied Parties
will be outside Cabinet and free to oppose government decisions.
The Libs are generally intellectually and culturally tone deaf: Deputy Federal Leader Julie Bishop
manages to epitomise this lack of respect for the importance of ideas.
Problems
with internet filtering: A recent ACMA report on ISP filtering products showed that all of the products tested degraded Internet performance, with two of them reducing speed by more than 75 per cent. One filter reduced network speed by only 2 per cent, but it was one of the least accurate at identifying inappropriate and illegal websites. It also mistakenly blocked many innocent sites. The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, seemed oblivious to this and hailed the trial a success. Which the Federal government
does not want people to complain about: Documents obtained by us show the office of the Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy, tried to bully ISP staff into suppressing their criticisms of the plan. There will be
a series of rallies on 13 December against the plans. Opposition ranges from
the Green Left to
the Libs to
child welfare groups. Campaign website is
