Liveblogging the Steyn/Macleans “human rights” free speech case. And also. Further. The saga continues. The continuing saga. The entire exercise is outrageous and Orwellian.

As success in Iraq mounts, the politics appears to be changing.

The Secretary of the Air Force and the Air Force Chief of Staff lose their jobs on the same day. There are a lot of issues showing conflict at the top of the Pentagon.

Poll on the general knowledge of Americans. Which is not so good but appears to better than that of Germans or Brits: As far as you know, does the earth revolve around the sun or does the sun revolve around the earth?" In the new poll, about four out of five Americans (79%) correctly respond that the earth revolves around the sun, while 18% say it is the other way around. These results are comparable to those found in Germany when a similar question was asked there in 1996; in response to that poll, 74% of Germans gave the correct answer, while 16% thought the sun revolved around the earth, and 10% said they didn't know. When the question was asked in Great Britain that same year, 67% answered correctly, 19% answered incorrectly, and 14% didn't know. More on what minorities of Americans believe.

Average polls Obama v Hillary. It is not that support for Hillary collapsed, it was that support for Obama surged. Obama is outpolling McCain, but not by much. Hillary outpolls McCain by a bit more. A new factor, angry white women. (Actually, the complaints of Hillary supporters about the behaviour of Obama supporters is fairly normal behaviour for the Left towards those who disagree.)

An awkward corruption conviction for the Democrats in Illinois (including their junior Senator).

Fisking a recent Obama speech on Iraq. Obama clarifies his remarks on Jerusalem.

Obama’s rhetoric being that of civic patriotism. Which contradicts the normal views of many of his supporters.
