Helpful advice from Vic Police

Feb 09, 2008 11:33

The noisy neighbour was at it again last night, blasting out pop music at 4am, waking me up. My housemate got out and yelled at her. This didn't seem to be working, so I called the police but she turned the music down while I was on the phone. The female police constable was very helpful and told me she would keep my details in case it started up again.

Which it did for a while, but I was dozing in bed and didn't have the energy to get up and phone again. But I never properly got back to sleep, and I am quite dozy-sleepy still.

My housemate rang the police this morning and got the following (helpful) advice. If, at any time of the day, we can hear our neighbours from any part of the house we habitually inhabit (bedroom, lounge room, kitchen but not toilet or bathroom) we ring 000 and lodge a complaint. They said not to engage her in any way, just phone the police and they will attend. If police have to attend twice in the same day, that is a $500 fine.

(As happened last time we yelled at them, have also had the door bell ring with no-one there.)
