Pig Out

Didn’t go to William Marshal this year, neither the tourney nor the feast. Had a whole lot of personal issues - a combination of blasts from the pasts and significant nasty anniversary - which I didn’t work through until Friday night, by which point it was a bit late.

Went to the launch of Kerry Greenwood’s new book of Phryne Fisher short stories (with recipes). Daffyd launched it in Santa gear, Kerry responded, it was all very jolly. montjoye, doushkasmum and sacred_chao were there.

Pottered around at home in local café for the rest of the day, solving the post-Kantian problems of Western philosophy. Did more of that Sunday morning, having a Vegie Bomb at Piazza Vittoria and buying a wheel of brie. Later, off to Prodos and Babou’s (belated) Thanksgiving feast (the brie was my contribution). Enjoyed it thoroughly, though I ate far, far too much.

Then on to Charles R’s housewarming (with a Thanksgiving Care package for Charles from Prodos and Babou). Charles writes for Crikey and is Oz’s only freelance philosopher. The housewarming included Charles’s normal list of very politically eclectic civilised folk. The election results were discussed with much knowledge and no heat. Had fun and slowly digested my earlier indulgence. We repaired to a Thai restaurant, then home.

Friday had been Billanook College, NE edge of Melbourne. (The College has its own winery.) The boys and girls were lovely, it’s a school which dresses up. Each class makes its own banner and they have a catapult competition at lunch time. I watched various presenters and then did the final session of Dance so that Leah could watch Fasion & Dress. I so very much enjoy teaching. Then did Tournament for the entire Year 8. It was rather hot and was worried that I would not quite have the energy, but that proved to be no problem.

On the way back, stopped off to get some petrol. Looked at the array of confectionaries in their garish wrappings, it struck me how completely unappetising they were. A sign of how my tastes have changed as my eating habits have changed.
