Hitting people is fun

Managed to get to training and get into armour and hit people both Monday and Tuesday night. Monday night, drove Rohan/Vandel back to his place and then us both to Arrowsreach training. Did slow work against Bertram (was crap). Fought against Jason/Everard and Tom. Was rather better. Stopped then because was expecting long day the next day.

Drove Rohan/Vandel back to his place and spent the night in his spare room. Downloaded Skype™ to his machine so I could ring Prof. Percy in Boston in the morning as I promised the previous day when I had done the Skype™ thing for the first time-responding to a lovely email I had received from Prof. Percy to an email I had sent sometime ago about this article. Alas, my housemate had SMS'd to me Prof. Percy's work not his home number, so got his office answering machine.

Tuesday night, went to Stormhold Tuesday night meeting, wizard_foots providing a lift. After retaping my sword (the tape had got fairly scrunched bashing Jason/Everard's metal shield) got into armour. Did some slow work against Bohemod/Nathan and then some fast-and-light. Found both his height and his sword point (which he is very aggressive with) difficult to handle. Hadn't realised how unused I was to fighting someone taller than me. At least with the slow work particularly, got some shield pressing-and-hooking practice.

After a break, fought him again, but this time he was doing florentine (two weapons, both swords-with-points). Florentine usually confuses me, but I did much better. I was good at riposting-belting him on his right side after he moved. I also had some success smothering his swords with my shield. Since I couldn't match his height, I did the Sir Hugh crouch (almost squatting). It does encourage folk to underestimate your range and decreases the area you have to defend. Also realised I could get inside Nathan/Bohemod's range, hence the smotherings.

Finished with some slow work against wizard_foots. Two good evenings. Should do this more often.
