Captain(s) on the bridge

After everyone had left to get settled back in, Chris grabbed a snack from the replicator. He sprawled in a chair with an apple and some peanut butter, reading one of the books he'd borrowed from Jim's bookshelf. When he'd left off before, Odysseus and his men were just navigating past the island of the Sirens. Chris tried to apply himself to the familiar tale, but his mind kept circling back to the meeting with their counterparts, finally standing face-to-face with Jim (in his own body, which made a weird situation that much weirder).

Somehow, having all six of them (well, seven if you counted Noah) on the ship made it more real. Chris frowned, thinking about that. Should it be strange, having a virtual double of himself here? And having switched bodies with him? He supposed it should be, but somehow it just wasn't. It was like he'd reached his limit of how strange or weird something could feel, or become used to it all somehow. And after the awkward first few days on board, he was ready to explore and satisfy his curiosity about this new place.

He was still mulling over all of that when the chime rang signaling a visitor. Rather than just call out he got up, welcoming the distraction as he put the book aside and went to answer the door.

like a kid in a candy store, jim, thinking too much
