As a reminder, this party will be like the V-Day orgy or Pirate Day event in that it’s IC, but does not affect the game. It’s just a chance for everyone to have a little fun and celebrate a very special day!Chris took a last look around his apartment, making sure everything was in place. He’d been out of town for the past week, so most of the day ( Read more... )

Jo debated on what to bring and what to wear both for a long time. She'd finally settled on a simple blouse and tailored jeans outfit with her new favorite sandals, and for a gift a simple flask inscribed with his name, like she and her Daddy had. She also brought a platter of cookies as a host gift, a selection of gingersnaps and chocolate chip cookies.

She wondered if these two were like they were on LJ. It'd be an adventure finding out. Stepping up to knock on the door, she took a deep breath. Here went nothing. She knocked on the door.

The party was getting into full swing now; people were arriving and chatting together. Chris couldn't wait for Karl to arrive and see all of them here.

He went to answer the door, wondering who it would be this time. The lovely young woman had her hands full. "Jo! Here, let me get those," he told her with a broad smile, taking the plate of cookies. "Come on in."

He led her to the kitchen and deposited the plate on the table with the rest of the snacks. "These look awesome - thanks for bringing them."

Jo grinned at Chris. "Hey yourself, handsome. I baked them myself, so I hope you folks like them. You managing okay? The birthday boy here yet? Your home is lovely!"

"You made them yourself?" He grinned delightedly. "I'm sure they're great. Everything's under control here... I told Karl to show up a little later, so he should be here in a while. You want something to drink?"

"Of course," Jo grinned. "I like baking and it's not like you and Karl aren't totally worth it. Just hide them from Dad or they'll disappear faster than you can say erudite. Surprise me." She was curious about what kind of drinks they had in this century. "I'm pretty sure you guys don't drink Jim Kirks."

"... There's a drink named after him?" Chris grinned. "What's that taste like?" He led her over to the counter with the bar setup. "Pretty standard stuff here, nothing too out of the ordinary. There's also beer cooling out on the balcony if you'd rather have that."

He leaned closer, his voice low and conspiring. "I don't recommend letting Zach mix you a drink, by the way. His taste is... regrettable."

"There is indeed," Jo nodded. "Fruity with a lot of liquor. It's pretty tasty when I want a mixed drink." Jo laughed at the advice. "He can't be too much worse than my roommate at the Academy. Sammy's heart was in the right place...her taste buds, I'm not sure. I'll grab a beer in a minute, you want one?"

"I'll come with you." Chris snagged a cookie off the plate and led her out to the balcony. "This is awesome, by the way," he told her, taking a huge bite. He pulled two beers from the bucket of ice, handing her one.

"Why thank you," Jo drawled. "And thank you again. Met anyone interesting so far? I saw Dad wandering around. Wonder if Uncle John's going to make it? My Spock actually is the one who taught me to bake, though that's my own tweaked recipe."

"Yeah, I think I've met just about everyone so far. Including Yontaya." Chris took a long sip of beer. "...Spock taught you to bake? Really?"

He looked over at the Spock present, trying to picture him baking cookies or cakes.

"Yontaya's a sweetie," Jo grinned. "She runs all over the ship."

"My Spock did. It was for science class, I couldn't use the chemistry labs at the time and he was demonstrating some chemical reactions through food instead. It was an...unusual education but it worked. Do you bake?"

"That makes sense... and it sounds like maybe a more fun way to learn." Chris burst out laughing at her question. "Nope. My mom taught me to cook, but baking just never sank in. I'm horrible at it."

"Well, hands on always worked best for me," Jo said, and then grinned at Chris' laugh. "I'll just have to add you to my to bake for list then when you get up to the ship. Wouldn't be good to have you going without. So how's clearing your schedule working?"

"Not bad," he told her. "Looks like I might be able to get away after all." He wasn't entirely sure how this was going to work, but he was looking forward to it.

Jo studied him for a moment then wrapped an arm around him in a half hug. "I'll be looking forward to it."

Surprised at first, Chris quickly returned the hug. "Thanks," he said with a grin.
