The flight from New York to Los Angles was the same as it always was. He worried about Noah tucked up in the cargo bay, remembering well the withering glare his dog had given him upon being locked in his crate, as he leaned back in the broad seat of first class and stared out the window. No wonder Pine chose to live so close to LA. Better than flying in from New Zealand though.

Dinner the night before had been amazing. Couldn't have been a better late birthday present if he tried. Leonard was always a great conversation to be had, and last night had proven to be no exception. With work to be done come Monday morning after, the idea of going to go gloat a little to Pine, who would undoubtedly would roll his eyes while listening.

Zach pulled his hoodie up as they landed, and quickly made his way off the plane. It took less time than expected to gather everything including Noah, grab the rental car reserved a head of time, and start making his way through evening traffic towards Silverlake with only a quick text before hand.

pine - ( ... )

Chris stared at the message, a grin spreading across his face. He hit reply, his fingers moving quickly over the keys.

Better be ready to party. There's a drink with your name on it.

Chris finished buttoning his shirt as he strode out of the room, picking up a small gift bag on his way. He placed it on the table in the hallway with Karl's gift, pleased that his plan was working out after all.

celebrating my arrival? smart man.

Zach smirked to himself before he shoved his phone into his pocket and looked into the back seat where Noah had made himself comfortable. "Looks like it'll be an exciting night."

Noah just lazily perked up an ear, as if saying he heard, and didn't even lift up his head.

The drive was a long but easy one, specially with the music blaring loud and Zach singing aloud. California girls/We're unforgettable/Daisy Dukes, Bikinis on top/Sun-kissed skin so hot will melt your popsicle, Oooooh Oh Oooooh!

He grabbed his bag and Noah's leash, getting out in front of Pine's place. He hooked the leash to Noah's collar, hit the automatic locks on the doors, and walked up to the front door and hit the buzzer.

You wish.

Chris sprawled on the sofa, killing time by clearing out his messages and wondering how long it would take Zach to get there. You could never tell - LA traffic was a bitch on the best days, and he assumed Zach had texted on his way from the airport. He didn't even bother trying to calculate how long it would take some of the other guests to get there.

He'd just deleted the last message, an old one from his agent, when he heard the bell. Chris stood up, shoving his phone in his pocket as he headed over to open the door.

"Hey, man," he greeted Zach, reaching out to clap the man on the shoulder, but interrupted when a familiar ball of fur launched itself at him.

Chris burst out laughing. "Hey, Noah, how you doing?" He scratched him behind the ears as the dog frantically tried to lick him hello.

Bones stood alone outside the door, looking decidedly uncomfortable. It wasn't that he felt out of place. At least he looked presentable in his uniform - maybe even a little better than that, judging by the way Jim had been grabbing at his ass as he got dressed.

It was more... these were the actors. And Bones was nervous. What if he didn't live up to their expectations? He wished Jim was here, but he'd gotten caught up with some ship's business, would be by later. And so Bones knocked on the door and rocked his heels.

Chris pulled the door open, a bright smile spreading over his face as he started to greet Karl... and then he paused. This wasn't Karl. His eyes widened as he took in the details; the haircut, the uniform, the uncomfortable expression on his face. That was what confirmed it for him - he'd never seen Karl look anything but comfortable, no matter the situation.

"... Bones?" he managed finally, the smile becoming something welcoming and slightly bemused. Chris extended his hand, "Come on in... welcome. I'm Chris, obviously."

Chris laughed a little. Somehow believing had been an entirely different thing than knowing, he realized.

Bones took the hand, shaking it. "Pleased to meet you," he said, looking carefully at that face. It was Jim's face, from those blue eyes down to the scar on his cheek. But Chris' hair was darker, and his hand lacked the tattoos.

Bones held out a bottle. "Brought some thing for you guys," he said, finally offering a little grin as he passed the bottle to Chris, the liquor deep blue and potent as hell. "A little treat from up there."

"Thanks," Chris replied with a delighted grin. He examined the bottle with interest as they walked into the living room. "Make yourself at home - there's drinks and food in the kitchen, beer's on ice out on the balcony."

He looked up as Zach walked in, automatically reaching for the glass he was holding out. "And here's someone else who may look familiar. Leonard McCoy, meet Zachary Quinto."

Chris took a sip of the concoction Zach had whipped up, watching the two with interest.

Spock thought this was a ridiculous idea, especially given the time and place. He was a Vulcan. How well did they think he would mingle with these humans given that fact?

So he had brought Yontaya with him, told her where they would be going, and expected her to follow as he stepped up to the address. After reaching out to press the button he assumed was the doorbell, Spock looked down at Yontaya rubbing her cheek against his leg, and then at the package in his hands. He had been told this was a birthday party, and understood well enough that gifts were usually presented at such events.

It did not occur, for more than several seconds, certain gifts he had been given for previous birthdays.

Zach snorted at Chris' words. How the two of them ended up in this joke together, Zach had no idea, specially if Chris hadn't known he was coming. Maybe he shouldn't have sent that text early to give Chris a heads up that he was coming.

"Yea, yea. I bet it's James T. Kirk right now, following along behind his Bones." Zach flipped the lock on the door and opened it up, peering outside.

His eyes met matching dark eyes across the doorway, and he could feel his mouth go dry and the laugh die in his throat. Slanted eyebrows, pointed ears, somewhat ridiculous bowl haircut that somehow looked very Vulcan, and his own defined featured he had seen in the mirror above the makeup table on set day after day for a few years.

"Spock."

"Correct." At least he didn't have to introduce himself to this one, as disconcerting as the meeting already was. "I assume you are Mister Quinto."

Spock thrust out the rectangular box towards Quinto. "This is not intended for you, but as you have already been inside this residence, you should know where similar items are being stored."

The hoodie and the white shirt...Spock was glad that he had taken advantage of merely wearing his uniform. If there were too formal, the command shirt could be discarded, and it would draw less attention than that ensemble.

Em reached up and knocked on the old fashioned door. Who was she to turn down a party invitation? Especially from a fellow alum. She straightened her blue blouse and briefly wondered if anyone else she knew was going to be here.

Chris excused himself from his guests and went to answer the door. He grinned when he saw the pretty woman on his doorstep. Now that he'd seen them both in person, he could see the resemblance between her and McCoy.

"...Emma?"

She grinned at the young man. "Hey, honey! You must be...Chris, am I right? Either that or Jim's dyed his hair." Em held up the bottle. "Is it all right that I brought a 2222 Port? Would the birthday boy like it?" she asked.

He laughed as he ushered her inside. "That's right," he said with a grin. "Pleased to meet you."

Chris took the bottle from her with a broad smile, setting it on the table with the other gifts. "I'm pretty sure he'll love it," he assured her. "Come on in... I think you know most everyone here."

Jo debated on what to bring and what to wear both for a long time. She'd finally settled on a simple blouse and tailored jeans outfit with her new favorite sandals, and for a gift a simple flask inscribed with his name, like she and her Daddy had. She also brought a platter of cookies as a host gift, a selection of gingersnaps and chocolate chip cookies.

She wondered if these two were like they were on LJ. It'd be an adventure finding out. Stepping up to knock on the door, she took a deep breath. Here went nothing. She knocked on the door.

The party was getting into full swing now; people were arriving and chatting together. Chris couldn't wait for Karl to arrive and see all of them here.

He went to answer the door, wondering who it would be this time. The lovely young woman had her hands full. "Jo! Here, let me get those," he told her with a broad smile, taking the plate of cookies. "Come on in."

He led her to the kitchen and deposited the plate on the table with the rest of the snacks. "These look awesome - thanks for bringing them."

Jo grinned at Chris. "Hey yourself, handsome. I baked them myself, so I hope you folks like them. You managing okay? The birthday boy here yet? Your home is lovely!"

"You made them yourself?" He grinned delightedly. "I'm sure they're great. Everything's under control here... I told Karl to show up a little later, so he should be here in a while. You want something to drink?"
