Yay I am excited! I was too lazy to get my eye exam at the Wal-Mart while I was home, but when I got back I realized my prescription had run out and I needed to order more contacts. So I scheduled an exam at the place I went last year thinking it was going to cost me $20 more than Wal-Mart cuz that was what I remembered, but it cost the same if not less!! AND the doctor gave me 10 pairs of contacts as trial and because he knew I was running low and didn't want me to run out before I could order more. So I ended up getting a better deal doing it here than at home anyways! I am also happy because my prescription is the same as last year's, so my eyes have not worsened at all (even though I stare at a computer all day long). My left eye appears to have the slightest of an astigmatism, which actually explains why sometimes it doesn't seem to see completely clearly even though I'm wearing the right prescription.
VBS went much better tonight! The boys were much more well-behaved, and I thank my extra helper and the "sticker positive reinforcement" idea. My helper didn't even have to get too involved, but he sat himself between kids when they would start touching each other and goofing off, which really super helped. Also, at one point there were like 3 kids being quiet so I just got out my stickers and said, "Here you go [insert name], you are sitting quietly so you get a sticker. Thank you!" And immediately the other ones quieted down. But then they wanted a sticker immediately, so I just said, "No, sorry, you have to earn it first!" So that way we were able to read through the entire passage with little disruption!
They had their pine wood derby racing today, but afterwards there wasn't enough time to start the craft, but we needed to occupy ourselves before parents came. So I taught them "Never have I ever..", and they actually really liked it! We had to make a rule though that they couldn't use potty language examples...Because immediately they started out with: "Never have I ever eaten my own poop!" They also all got involved in the song singing today--maybe the lack of chairs helped because they couldn't sit and "disappear".
After VBS the leaders and pro-cell (who came to help out with the race) went out to Boba Loca. It's located right next to Stans Donuts, Enzo's Pizza, places I've been, but I'd never been in it. It was pretty good---a little too sweet, but I'm sure that was due to the fact I got a mint chocolate chip frap...Though it wasn't smart of me cuz now I'm not tired and it's 10:30, even though previously I've been wiped by 9:00! I even got up early today to do my laundry cuz I haven't been able to at night. I just used the time to go for a jog and get some work done at home. I need to figure out how to up my pace...I'm at such an easy pace right now that I could go on forever it seems without stopping...I get home and I'm not even out of breath really. I guess I could try a treadmill, but I really don't like running on them. Hmm...Maybe a track would be the answer...
