After indulging myself in some veronica mars fun, I was watching the news. This is usually a mistake. It's depressing and yet affirming. As a people, a species, we suck.
Anyway.
Watching the news, specifically the CW/WB/channel 2 news, there was a happy little story about a calendar featuring Colorado vets, using pictures from their youth, looking all cute and full of... whatever they were full of. The audience was full of aged veterans, listening to our own Ken Salazar saying something. There was no audio. There were a few images of vintage looking men looking... whatever. Then there was a voice over that enraged me.
"The calendar will help raise money for the ageing veteran’s medical care."
WHAT THE FUCK!?!??!?!?
Is the military actually living up to the bumper sticker 'having a bake sale to buy a bomber'?
I don't care if you were filing bullshit files in a safe little base somewhere or blasting away what you 'knew' was the enemy. You did what you knew was right. You SERVED.
And now we're selling fucking CALENDARS to raise money for you?
Please, tell me there's a way to look at this that doesn't insult my fucking humanity.
