I think this is a great opportunity for you to do something you're at least remotely interested in doing. Is there some job related to painting or art that you would enjoy more than being an office monkey?

There is no job relating to art that will pay the mortgage. At least that I'm aware of.

I could not work in porn. Not anywhere near it.

Well I hope being laid off leads you to bigger and better things. Every time I've left a job for whatever reason, I've always ended up someplace better.
