ScotRail sucks, and other sundry updates.

So, I'm sitting in an airport bar at Prestwick Int'l Airport outside of Glasgow, when I should be on a plane into Dublin. Why, you ask? Because ScotRail's train 1) sat for 20 minutes between stations at the beginning of its route, and 2) finally debarked us at the next station and told us that the train needed to be repaired. So there we sat for another 15 minutes for the next train. Once we got on the train (all 200 or so of us from the 2/3 full train we were on) crammed into the next train, this train took its good, sweet time getting there, and took an extra 20 minutes over what the schedule said. In other words, 1/3 of the people on the train that were getting off at Prestwick missed there flights, which all told was about 25 people in our car alone (one of four).

In other news, Glasgow was slightly underwhelming after the awesomeness that was Edinburgh. Our hotel was nicer in Glasgow, and was a block away from the Glasgow School of Art, which looks more like an industrial prison than an art school.

Also, a personal peeve of mine, WHY THE HELL does anything that isn't a bar, pub, or grocery store close by 6pm, when even the sun stays out until 10? We were ecstatic when we found a Starbucks in Edinburgh that was open until 8pm. I mean, yeah, bars are fun, but not when there's nothing else to do at night.

I've also got a ton of pictures from Scotland so far, most of them scenery. It's really beautiful, especially the train ride we took from Glasgow to this little town called Oban on the Southwest coast. I'll share them at some point, when I get a chance to put them all up.
