Was it the pull of the moon now baby that led you to my door...

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been out of town this past week!

On Tuesday night I left to compete in the state Health Occupations Students of America competition. I was really nervous at first because I had to drive down there, but everything turned out alright and I was actually glad that I had my car down there. The competition was being held at the Holiday Inn motel in St Cloud, which is also where we were staying. The hotel was really nice...it has 5 pools, 2 volleyball courts, and a basketball court...we had poolside rooms which was really fun.

The competition didn't actually start until Wednesday afternoon so we had some free time in the morning. Adam and I decided to walk across the street to the HUGE Barnes and Noble store. I love book stores, I can seriously spend hours on end in them...plus a lot of Barnes and Noble stores have a Starbucks inside of them, which is just an added bonus! After book shopping we went back to the hotel to change into the required professional attire. The first day of the conference was spent taking written knowledge tests...I had to take tests on Medical Spelling, HOSA Bowl (which is just random medical trivia), Medical Terminology, and Pathophysiology...all of them were pretty difficult! However, I did end up scoring the highest score on the Medical Spelling test, which was exciting. On Thursday morning I was competing in the Extemporaneous Health Poster category. Basically, you bring your own markers and other art supplies and they provide you with a piece of poster board and packet of information, including what the topic of the poster should be, and then you have two hours to create a poster that reflects the information given. The topic of this particular competition was to create a poster for middle school kids that illustrated the importance of being physically active. At the awards banquet on Thursday night I found out that I took third in the health poster category...which was a total shock because the extent of my artistic talent is coloring books! But yeah, because of my third place finish, I qualify to compete in national HOSA competition which is being held in Anaheim...however, I'm not sure if I'm going to go...

Even though I had a lot of fun at the HOSA competition, I was really happy to get home on Friday. I went in to visit my mom at her office and I also went to visit my aunt who works down the street from my mom. Friday night I just hung out at home, pretty low key haha! I was dog sitting for Sandy and Marshall because they were spending the night in Duluth (celebrating their anniversary) and the girls were staying at their cousins house. This afternoon I took Pebbles (Sandy and Marshall's dog) for a LONG walk...by the time we got back, Sandy and Marshall were home. So I hung out over here for awhile, went home to eat dinner quick, and then I came back over here to babysit because Sandy and Marshall had a party to go to tonight.

Right now I'm just trying to stay awake, however I doubt I'll be able to stay up for much longer because I'm really tired...plus I'm sitting on the most comfortable couch ever...sooooo sleepy haha!

night!
