And just to clarify, the disaster in this instance was all about me...
I met a guy, Scott, a little over a year ago at a barbecue. It was brief, with pleasantries exchanged and such. I thought he was handsome, though a bit on the young side of who I am normally attracted to, but enjoyed meeting him nonetheless. Did not think about him again.
I few months ago, Scott friended me on Facebook and we started commenting on each other's walls, etc there, as well as chatting every now and then on daddyhunt.com. We decided we should get together for dinner sometime, but both our schedules just were not working out. Finally we decided to meet up for dinner tonight after he got off his 12 hr nursing shift.
We met up at a Chinese restaurant not far from where he was working and about at a half-way point between where we both live. It was a totally casual affair as he was still in hospital scrubs and I had on cammo cargo shorts and sandals. Things started out well and we hit the buffet line. I know - not a good idea for a diabetic, but I was pretty reasonable with portions and the mix of foods. This is when the disaster struck...
I decided to get a small bowl of hot-and-sour soup. On the way back, I also decided to get a small bowl of sweet-and-sour sauce for my chicken (I like to dip it in the sauce, not have it drenched in it). They had spring rolls there as well, so I decided to grab one of those as well. So now I was trying to carry 3 things in two hands. I am still fuxxy over how it happened, but the end result was the bowl of sweet-and-sour sauce was shattered on the floor, I had sauce all over my feet and shirt, and I had spilled half my soup on my hand, burning it in the process. Yes, I do know how to make an impression...
Got cleaned up as best I could and back to the table. Scott was most gracious, laughed it off and made me feel better (he looked at my hand to make sure I was being truthful about it not being beyond a first degree burn). We then proceeded to have a nice hour of dinner and sharing parts of our lives with each other - a really nice conversation.
Yes, we are going to try to get together again when neither he nor I have any work-related strings limiting our time together.
No, he was not on bear411, so this one might be more a keeper...
This is a photo I took of him last year.
