Two Days In A Row

Jun 26, 2011 09:39

I did not thing it was possible. I did not think I would ever have as great a night as I had on Friday and then follow it up with a full day that included ending it at the Eagle in Dallas and have it be at least as good as the previous one. But I guess lightning can strike twice.

Now mind you it was a busy day. I got up early to finish laundry, then went to get the annual state inspection and renew my tag registration. After that, to the Dallas Farmer's Market to visit the organic hippie and other local producers for fresh veggies and a meet up with my friend Tim who lives in a downtown high rise but had never been to the Farmer's Market. We chatted a bit and I needed to leave, so he was quite happy to stay and do some daddy/bubba watching on his own.

Got home and made two dishes for a late afternoon pool party and potluck. I was uncertain what else would be there, and since ti was primarily a bear and big boy group, I went as healthy as I  could. Somehow I had wound up with a dozen eggs that I thought were Scott's, but instead were mine, so I tried a buddy's recipe for curried deviled eggs. Never thought I would make a deviled egg without sweet relish in them, but they wound up being tasty. I complimented it with a fresh heirloom tomato salad with ground sea salt, black pepper and basil chiffonade.

Then to nearly 40 miles north to Carrollton to pick up my buddy John from London. He is on an extended sabbatical from work and is visiting the US. John is a Cockney, through and through, and one of the most down-to-earth decent people I know. He was of course the hit of the party with his accent. He happens to be a cutie too...

Yep - he is a total cuddle bug...

John was sort of pooped from an early start and day of travel from Austin where he had been visiting, so I dropped him off at his friend's in Carrollton where he is staying and decided to stop in at the Eagle on the way home just to see who might be out. It was bizarre how many guys I saw commented that they could really tell I am losing weight, that I look better than I have been in a good while and one even commented that it felt like my whole demeanor has changed. In a way this is true - I have WAY more energy now than I had before I dropped the starchy stuff, but then I am in the midst of my favorite time of year and always perk up a bit in the summer. In actuality, I really have not lost all THAT much weight proportionally, but maybe the attitude about  my body may be coming through and just MAYBE I am feeling a bit more comfortable in my skin and there is some resulting confidence that was lacking previously. I am not sure, but all I know is I had guys being friendly with me last night that I would never have thought before.

Can we try for three days in a row and make it a hat-trick weekend?
