... included having to wait til sun went down cuz the rental I got lacked a driver's side visor, of all things.
Sadly my boss decided to have a lab meeting as well which prevented an earlier escape.
A trooper pulled me over to give me a warning on my speed prolly out of boredom (73 on 65?) and then a warning on my dl as it listed my old address. But that worked out as I was getting a new one anyway on Monday.
I headed off through Clovis and 17 miles of a thunderstorm. Pretty cool since I didn't hit flooding. Saw a train paralleling my path, a fellow night traveler, with its lights gazing into the sheets of rain.
That was Friday. Sunday, I had to go to Albuquerque to swap my car for a better car (this one had cruise too). A nice feeling car, a 2011 Optima. The rental place back in Lubbock gave me a deal for 2 free days rental to make up for the bad Hyundai Accent - but not the 1.5 hours I wasted driving to Alb. and back. (A rental guy said that 2010 Accents seem to have a problem with their visors.)
Santa Fe --
got to see La Boheme -- felt like all my friends were being portrayed onstage.
Saw Tent rocks national monument. Very cool. need to post pics of that.
got some good grub at a fancy schmancy restaurant
went shopping at a fashion outlet mall - got a great wine-red Ralph Lauren sweater vest -- normally not my thing, but he color is amazing. great feel too.
returned to Lubbock around 4 am on Sunday night/Monday am. dead at work next day. You just get so tired that you feel stunned all day... less thinky, more zombie movement.
