Community: Annie is interested in people, period.

Contains spoilers until episode 2x15.

Let's get right to business, then, shall we?

Personally, I want Abed and Annie to get together. STAT. Evidence, however, suggests otherwise. To start off, however, I'll list a few AA pieces to make me feel better.

Giana from a Community forum already listed some key moments by our lovely AA couple in here http://www.fanforum.com/f353/don-disney-%7Babed-annie%7D-2-because-he-waited-26-hours-her-62977104/  , but she missed some. I'll make another post to highlight AA moments.

In 1x22 "Art of Discourse", Pierce tells Shirley that he refers to her as the "black woman", whereas he calls Britta and Annie "flat-butt" and the "one Abed wants to nail". The question is, which one is which? A few minutes earlier Abed said she had made out with the hottest girl in school, which apparently was neither Annie nor Britta. The girls didn't know which one Abed  wants to "get with", but if we take Pierce's words into play...well, Annie is portrayed by Allison Brie who was/is on Mad Men. Is she really likely to be "flat-butt"? Not that I'm saying that Britta is, they're both lovely looking ladies. Still. I think it's bound to be Annie. A few episodes earlier, in 1x17 "Physical Education", Abed got to exact some advances towards Annie, albeit egged on by the group, and had her clearly reciprocate.

Though, it must be mentioned here that Annie is sort of a curious one.
  • At the beginning of the series, she was still crushing on Troy, as evidenced for example by the episode 1x08 "Home economics".
  • She kissed Jeff in 1x09 "Debate 109" to win a debate and to impress him.
  • In 1x15 "Romantic Expressionism" she starts to date Vaughn, Britta's ex.
  • In the aforementioned 1x17 "Physical education" episode she then clearly wanted to kiss Abed in their Don Draper inspired scene together, despite the fact that she has a boyfriend.
  • She breaks it off with Vaughn in the season 1 finale and kisses Jeff again, probably because she wanted to be like Britta (this is later explored).
  • 2x01 "Anthropology 101" shows Annie being kind of hung up on Jeff. She punches him and Betty White strangles him a little, and they agree to remain friends. This is not exactly how things end up, but that is what they agreed on.
  • At the end of 2x03 "The Psychology of letting go", Annie and Britta make up and Annie admits she only kissed Jeff because she wanted to be like her. "I only kissed Jeff because I wanted to see if I could do it because I want to be cool and sexy like you." (B: "I only slept with Jeff because I hate myself.")
  • In 2x12 "Asian populated studies" Annie has a crush on Rich, whom we previously met in 1x19 episode "Beginner pottery". She has a discussion with Jeff about him deciding what or who he wants. She is shot down, however, because Rich is too perfect to date teenagers.
  • In 2x15 "Early 21st century romanticism" she skips the middle man and almost kisses Britta, before the latter puts the breaks on.

I'm not saying Annie is gay for Britta, I think it's more of a combination of her feeling insecure and her finding Britta to be the kind of woman she'd want to be. Abed knows exactly who he is so he doesn't mind changing for other people, Annie, however, does it because she doesn't know who she is (1x17 and 2x10, respectively). I highlight this on my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkPSYlGXxeg

I don't think Jeff and Annie should be together because of the scene towards the end of 1x13 "Investigative journalism" where she demonstrates that she sees him as some God-like authority figure (Because..you're Jeff Winger") and I just don't see it as a healthy. I don't care about the age-difference, but the authority Jeff demonstrates over Annie is worry-some to me.

I think Abed and Annie would be amazing together, but that may not be what she wants. I'll continue to root for them anyway.
