Somehow, when you're in a video-store at 6 am, dressing people as animae characters and mexican wrestlers, you get the feeling that you're not living a normal life. Our shoot on Saturday went relatively smoothly. We got into the video-store with no problem this time (last time our guy on the inside didn't show up). But our "video-store clerk", who was cast months ago, was overly enthusiastic, said he was going to be a little late since he had to take the bus. He never showed up. Fortunately our lighting god was up to the task and turned in a star-making performance. Really. He was probably better than the other guy. Thank you universe. This, seriously, is at least the 5th time we have had something planned, fall out from under us and give us a serious case of the "great, we're fucked." Then, upon closer inspection, we realize that the floor we fell through, dropped us into a room filled with gold. I can't wait to start editing this thing to see if what we got on tape is half as good as what I've been witnessing.
Robbie? AKA G2.5

In other news, make sure that you check time for shows you want to see. Last Friday, we caught the last twenty-or-so minutes of the Dresden Dolls show. It was good but, based on the last time we saw them, I'm sure the first half was really good too. I also really wanted to see their opener, the Ditty Bops. I really like their CD and was told they were good live. Oh, well, at least we got in for free to see the last couple of songs. And the encore - a cover of Postal Service's "Such Great Heights". It was good, even though EVERYBODY seems to be covering PS and that song in particular (Iron & Wine's version is the best).

In closing, Barbarella is a weird time-capsule of a movie. I hadn't seen it since I was a kid (how inappropriate is that?) and was surprised at how goofy it was. Almost like Sid & Marty Kroft decided to make an erotic, sci-fi movie. That whole "swingin' sixties" soundtrack, weird acting and impressive sets. It's a keeper. I may just do a double feature viewing of it and Logan's Run or the even more similar Flash Gordon (if I can find it - and no, I'm not willing to mortgage a house to rent it from Scarecrow).
