Man, I need tickyboxes for the when, too, because I technically started reading fic two years ago, then found the music, but didn't get a livejournal until this past January.

huh, i didn't think about that. too bad you can't edit polls. i guess i'd count it from when you started reading fic? although it's interesting you got into the music afterwards. but then, i was reading pete/mikey fics before i even really knew who mikey was, so i get that.

Well, before bandom I was really using fic as a cheaper-than-buying-new-books kind of thing, because I read freakishly fast, so I got into bandom through some fic writers I was already reading for other stuff. And then there was Gerard. And Lyn-Z. And AFP. And Greta. And that way lies madness. *grins*

ahhh okay, i get that. i'll read outside of my fandoms for my favorite authors. haha seriously, i don't see how anyone could resist gerard's face and awesome geekiness. and all the other wonderful people in our fandom :D

Fuck, Gerard. *________________*

It was mostly TBP that got me crazy into MCR, and from there on I came to know bandom and became a part of this insane place. :) I knew MCR way before then, though, but I had never read any fic/joined comms/met people who were into them too until 2006. And I've been a fan of P!ATD since the release of AFYCSO in 2005, even before they won the VMA.

What about you?

ETA: I should clarify that I didn't join LJ until the beginning of 2008, but I was lurking since way before that.

i know, he's so beautiful ♥___♥

my story is similar to yours! well, sort of. i got into bandom because of fob, particularly pete wentz, in 2007. then i also got into panic. i had been a fan of their music for a couple years but had never been interested in them in a fannish way before. then later that year i got into mcr, and it was all over. THEY TOOK OVER MY BRAIN AND HAVEN'T RELEASED IT ;) i'd been a fan of their music since three cheers, and even after getting into bandom it was still a few months before i started learning more about them.

It's funny, because I used to really hate Pete Wentz, and now I'm kind of in love with the guy (in a platonic way, though). He had to go and be so goddamn charming. :/ But yeah, now MCR own a good part of my brain, which is funny because three years ago I only saw them as another band name on my iTunes. Weird how things change, huh?

ikr? he's pretty hard to resist. it seems like a lot of people didn't really like pete wentz until they got to know him. i didn't really know anything about him until some people on my flist started posting about him, so i only found out the good things, haha. it is weird! when i first started listening to mcr, i never would've guessed that i'd come to love them as much as i do now.

sorry, i should've been more specific! i mean the former, like, participating in fannish activities beyond listening to their music and going to shows.

ha, i'm kind of the opposite! i started out reading fic about a bunch of different bands but became very one-track minded when i discovered mcr. but now i'm like you, i hardly ever read fic that doesn't contain any of mcr. or msi, although i can't think of any solely msi fic. i also make exceptions for femmeslash ;)
