[log] wide-eyed grinning in the darkened room

Nov 29, 2009 18:40

[16:25] Grif: "And yeah, without admitting to anything in particular, transitioning to legit work does take some getting used to."
[16:25] * Martel coughs. ...what. Nothing.
[15:51] * Martel is possibly the most unhelpful person to arrive, as he dislikes dogs and writes unsent letters every day that no one knows about; this is, of course, the moment at which he does just that (arrive).
[15:52] Henry: MARTEL. Henry grins, manfully, and gets up (briefly) to go over and do some kind of 'sup bro' equivalent between two Extremely Grown Scientists, which is maybe like, a shoulder clap or something.
[15:53] Hasibe: Huan makes hilarious 'aglksdjfs A CHALLENGER APPROACHES' puppy play-fight noises in the meanwhile. SORRY MARTEL, he will also follow Henry over and look at you inquisitively. :O
[15:53] * Sebastian ducks his head and looks more than slightly sheepish. He might've burnt the vast majority of his bridges, it's true.
[15:53] Henry: .....assuming this is the Martel he knows, which. You know, there are a lot of them. If it's not, disregard that. Henry's typist is on drugs.
[15:53] * Martel will shoulder-clap with the best of them and ... look ... slowly ... down. "-good grief."
[15:53] Hasibe: "That's Huan," Hasi says, sweetly, "he's new."
[15:54] Hasibe: And to Sebastian: "The letter sounds like something that would give you closure, so."
[15:54] Martel: "I see," a little pained. He tolerates being looked over by the puppy, despite the fact he looks like he'd really rather not.
[15:55] * Henry sends Huan back to Hasi, as a small mercy. "Go bother your mom." .............you're that couple, I see.
[15:55] * Grif waves at Martel.
[15:55] Hasibe: Huan sprawls at Hasi's feet. She scritches him. "He's being really good." You know, by not attempting to herd any of the people in this room.
[15:56] * Martel nods back to Grif, amiably. He is remarkably more comfortable without a dog directly in frot of him. "I can tell," he says, of Huan being good. "My father was a breeder."
[16:00] * Sebastian nods. "Thanks. I think I'm gonna ask the Nexus, but I'm not expecting too much." In fact, he's going to use his PINpoint to do that and everyone here is welcome to follow along. :D?
[16:00] Martel: "Did I interrupt something?" :>
[16:01] * Hasibe finishes her martini and sets it to the side. "A discussion about the benefits of writing letters home. It's good to see you, Martel, by the way."
[16:03] * Martel sits (out of dog-range). "/Ah/. -it hasn't been that long since your dinner." But, you know, he's good-natured. Presently.
[16:04] Hasibe: "Maybe I thought my cooking rendered you immobile." :>?
[16:05] Martel: "You'd be amazed what I can eat."
[16:05] * Henry stares like a fond idiot for a while at Hasibe, because <3333 their house <33333...he's a sentimentalist.
[16:05] Grif: "It was a pretty mighty spread."
[16:06] Martel: "It got Candice out of the castle." This evidently qualifies it as a success, inherently.
[16:07] * Hasibe requires you back over here, Henry. "It was nice meeting her, too--you guys are a very cute couple."
[16:07] Martel: "She tolerates me admirably."
[16:08] * Henry goes, as if compelled or able to read narrative, because why should they not be attached at the hip for the next couple forevers. "That is such a difficult quality to come by." In general, as there is more fond staring, not specifically of Martel.
[16:09] * Hasibe just smiles a little. "You guys should come by for another dinner sometime--maybe once we've got the house a little more settled in, there's still so much left I have to /do/--"
[16:11] Martel: "There's always something left to do," he observes, slightly wry.
[16:11] * Henry rolls his eyes, with YET MORE fondness, and this was already being typed, so let us marvel at how Henry and Martel are hilariously the same cut of dry.
[16:13] Henry: And this reminds him to be abruptly concerned for Jack yet again, although this is probably not the time.
[16:14] Hasibe: "I am a perfectionist," she admits, freely, "but at least it keeps me busy and out of trouble." Nothing can keep her out of trouble for long, but she tries!
[16:15] Martel: "That sounds remarkably like the rationale for my work schedule," Martel muses.
[16:17] Henry: "Hasi applied to graduate school," puts in her ridiculously proud boyfriend, apropos of very little. What, presumably this will keep her out of trouble.
[16:17] * Henry was just looking for an opening for that, let's not pretend.
[16:18] Grif: "Oh, hey, awesome. When do you hear back?"
[16:18] Sebastian: "Oh, wow! That's amazing." Sebastian can, uh, offer her a congratulatory bar umbrella.
[16:18] Hasibe: "I don't even know if I'll get in," she murmurs, pleased but tucking her face into Henry's shoulder momentarily all the same, "Oh--not until December." She will wear it in her hair, Sebastian. She has ridiculous hair, this is feasible. "Thank you, guys." :3
[16:19] Martel: "I doubt you could manage not to," which ... is totally complimentary, it's just the way he says things that makes you wonder for a second sometimes.
[16:20] Henry: "That's what I said, except I was less borderline reprimanding about it." They're friends.
[16:20] * Hasibe laughs. "I hope you're right. In the meantime I have auditions--local plays. Going straight will be interesting." You know, no longer doing pornography--the transition is interesting. "But I hear most people make at least two or three career changes in their lives."
[16:21] * Martel grins at Henry, because he is like an enormous temperamental cat. No one ever wonders why he doesn't like dogs. "I've done two," he supplies his anecdata, helpfully. "-possibly three, I'm not certain."
[16:21] * Henry does this--weird facial tic for a second re: career changes, but it is probably gone too quickly for anyone but Hasi to catch it. Yaaay.
[16:22] * Hasibe rests a hand on Henry's knee, casual. Yes, she saw. Huan daringly puts two paws up on the sofa seat nearest him, surely no one will notice!! "Not certain?"
[16:22] * Sebastian also makes an amazing face about career changes. Ahem.
[16:23] Martel: "I seem to be working about four different careers simultaneously right now."
[16:23] * Henry momentarily divests himself of ...stuff to put Huan's paws on the floor with a noise like 'Ah-ah,' because that's what his typist learned from taking a dog to obedience classes.
[16:24] Sebastian: "If anyone here ever needs small appliance repair, I'm very much your guy." ...we will not consider previous job choices.
[16:24] Grif: "I bounced around... I don't even know how many jobs, before getting drafted." No, really, he actually doesn't know.
[16:24] Hasibe: "Well, I'm working on two. Plus apparently professional dog-wrangler, although Henry seems to be the disciplinarian." While she is the soft touch, she will admit, freely. "I may keep that in mind. I'd like to learn how to fix things myself, someday."
[16:25] Grif: "And yeah, without admitting to anything in particular, transitioning to legit work does take some getting used to."
[16:25] * Martel coughs. ...what. Nothing.
[16:26] Sebastian: "If you want, I really wouldn't mind walking you through the basics. It's not too bad once you know what you're doing."
[16:26] * Henry doesn't cough, for ENTIRELY different reasons, Hasibe. He busies himself with Huan, who gets petting for listening so well.
[16:27] Henry: Much like Hasibe gets p--so, the weather.
[16:27] Hasibe: "I'd love that. I could pay you, too--for teaching." She is innocent, Henry. Innocently talking to this nice man over here, and continuing her goal of learning everything.
[16:28] Sebastian: "How, umm, how about you help me pick a good greyhound?" That's a reasonable exchange, isn't it?
[16:29] * Henry sits down again, also totally innocent. Of everything.
[16:29] Hasibe: "Sounds just perfect." She is pleased.
[16:30] * Hasibe also jumps, for some reason, and gives Henry a look. Of plotting. "I'm going to get something to drink--wine, maybe--Henry, do you want anything?"
[16:32] * Henry squeezes her hand, totally mild. "Let Martel pick out a wine, he's great at that." Remember that one time.
[16:34] Martel: "The true test of friendship; when you volunteer me for things and I do them." ...he says, getting up.
[16:35] * Hasibe laughs a little. "You never know, Martel, I might just have terrible taste in wine from which he is attempting to spare you." Trolling both men at once, hello.
[16:36] Martel: "Henry, you are a considerate individual."
[16:37] * Henry 's pocket beeps, thus curtailing whatever really fucking dry response was about to go here; HEY, an email from work, brb.
[16:39] * Hasibe rises to go attend to wine glasses and such, if Martel will assist her!
[16:39] * Subaru wanders in, a thin Japanese man wearing black on black on black, but not in a stylish enough way to be goth. He looks around--this is not quite where he was intending to go--but he doesn't say anything at first.
[16:40] * Martel assists, by which we mean he's picking through bottles looking for something. (For once it's not Arcian red, be amazed.)
[16:42] * Martel produces a Yellowtail shiraz cabernet for Hasi's perusal.
[16:44] Mabel: There is a door in the far corner that may or may not actually be a broom closet. It's entirely nondescript, except for the fact for the sound of a distant scream that seems to be coming from it. Or it could be anything, really.
[16:45] * Zane PINs right on in! *poit!*
[16:45] * Hasibe is both a) way too perceptive and b) way too psychic to ignore that, so she turns to look over her shoulder after thanking Martel for his help. That's...certainly something. But--Nexus, so she takes two glasses back over to where she and Huan and Henry have claimed a sofa, for whenever he returns from the land of work.
[16:47] Zane: "Hhhello, lots of people." Oh good April is here. And Grif. Big man in armor, good to have around.
[16:47] Grif: "Hi!"
[16:48] * Martel brings his own glass and the bottle away from the bar; if he noticed anything (and he did), he makes no sign of it.
[16:48] * Subaru ... was going to approach the bar and ask if this is even a public house, but... potential screaming. Slightly more important. He stops where he is and stares at the door. Ignore him, he's just this weird silent dude.
[16:48] Grif: Also, uh, oh, hey, distant screaming. That gets his attention, what with his augmented hearing, and he turns to look at the door, deliberating on what to do.
[16:49] * Sebastian is suddenly rather uncomfortable. Erk.
[16:49] * Zane is SIGNIFICANTLY DISAPPOINTED by the lack of people it is okay to hug. Is there screaming?
[16:49] Mabel: There's another scream, much closer, much louder, and it sounds like a child.
[16:50] Sebastian: "Does anyone here that?" Oh, he is not a happy fellow.
[16:50] Zane: "What the fuck?" Zane may be pretty dang tall, but he curls in on himself very well.
[16:50] * Grif puts his beer bottle aside, stands up and puts his helmet on almost in the same motion, and walks over to the door with the screaming.
[16:51] * Martel watches this, impassively, over his glass.
[16:52] Subaru: "Yes." He takes a few steps toward the door, but lets the giant guy in armor lead.
[16:52] * Zane heads for....Martel. Who he sits or crouches nearby, and whose arm he touches, just briefly, while watching Grif.
[16:53] * Hasibe scritches Huan, whose tail twitches, and she stays on the sofa.
[16:53] * Sebastian is looking more than a little ashen. He's going to stay here until someone opens the door and sorts this out...and then there will be such a running away.
[16:53] Mabel: The door is flung open, and there's a deep blackness on the other side. Then a young African American girl is flung through - there are dead, rotting hands pushing her through the door for those that can see them. She hits the ground hard with another yelp, as the hands grasp the edges of the door and slam it shut.
[16:54] * Zane growls, and backs away from the door. It is not a human sound.
[16:54] * Martel ... removes his arm from Zane's reach, giving him a briefly irritable look for the invasion of space - which is forgotten or rendered unimportant by Mabel's arrival.
[16:54] * Sebastian called it. He's going to limp out of there as fast as can be. Excuse him. He's...going to go have a panic attack outside.
[16:54] * Grif activates his sensors--- oh hey, that's kind of disturbing. He crouches down next to Mabel. "You okay there, kiddo?"
[16:55] * Subaru sees them, yes-- and he is pretty instantly moving between the door and the girl, slapping some kind of paper wards against the door. Ahem.
[16:55] * Mabel is a small little girl wearing a pink jacket and covered with bloody scratch marks. She stands up, hands balled into fists, and stamps her foot. "That hurt you *jerks*!"
[16:55] * Martel moves past Zane to join Grif, leaving his wine behind. "Well," he says, philosophically, "she's articulate."
[16:56] * Zane does not need moving past, as he was already moving away.
[16:56] Mabel: "They ripped up my jacket! They ruined - " It is now that she realizes that she's somewhere else entirely, and surrounded by people. " - oh."
[16:57] * Hasibe pretty much ascertains Mabel is scratched but fine; she...has a weird sense of these things from personal. But sympathizes! Fact: kangal dogs love kids, Huan is staring at Mabel with wide eyes. If Hasi lets him go he will be over there instantly.
[16:59] Subaru: "Your arms-" he gestures but doesn't even approach touch, though he looks quite sympathetic. "We should clean those. Are you otherwise injured?"
[16:59] Martel: "There's a kit here in the back, Candice uses it. I'll get it," Martel says, briefly, excusing himself to do just that.
[17:00] Grif: "So, uh, what the hell was that, anyway?"
[17:01] * Mabel stares at the room with a narrow, calculating look. More adults, guy in armor, someone who warded things with paper - ah, Nexus. She seems to relax slightly. "They're ghosts. Could you see them?"
[17:03] * Zane backs out the door for some air.
[17:03] Hasibe: "Yes, indeed. -- Huan, /stay/."
[17:03] * Martel returns with a very thorough first aid kit, because this is the nexus and it tends not to fuck around.
[17:05] Grif: "All I got was a lot of screaming, and that you came in a bit harder than under your own power." He looks around at the group. "Some of these guys are apparently better at it."
[17:05] Martel: "I didn't see, but I felt," Martel supplies, putting the kit down and opening it. "Let me look at those, please."
[17:06] Mabel: "...Oh." She looks a little stunned by this, and lets Martel look at her scratches without the usual raving about pedos and creeps.
[17:07] * Subaru nods. "I saw them. Do you know why they were after you?"
[17:08] * Martel has an okay 'bedside manner', by which we mean he is efficient, surprisingly gentle, and quiet. "That sort of thing runs in my wife's family," is his only contribution at this point.
[17:11] Mabel: "...Um." She was going to have to get over adults that didn't seem to be humoring her, this was weird. "They weren't after me, I was doing something they don't like. They're trying to keep me from something, but they don't talk none so I don't know what."
[17:13] Grif: "Well, that's pretty rude of them. You'd think the least they could do was tell you to stay away."
[17:14] * Subaru is made of nodding. "May I ask what you were doing?" ... he means that literally, as in 'is it okay for me to ask that', not in the lecture-y way that phrase is often used. English is not polite enough for him, okay. :|
[17:17] * Mabel looks shifty and tries to cover this up by glaring at Martel. "Looking for something."
[17:19] * Martel gives her a mild look in response, and then ignores the glaring in favour of cleaning out a scratch. That probably stings a little.
[17:20] * Grif goes back to where he was sitting, takes his helmet off and resumes his drinking.
[17:23] Mabel: "Ow." She's used to the stinging - Martel might notice the faint marks of other recently healed, very similar injuries on her skin - but she's going to say it anyway. It's automatic.
[17:25] * Martel makes a 'tch' sound and continues. "What were you looking for?"
[17:26] * Subaru looks a bit more concerned at that, since... he can't help if he doesn't know the details, and he is that guy who always has to help. But he won't push-- thankfully it looks like Martel will.
[17:28] Mabel: She'll settle for defensive, sulky anger. "There's something in this house that terrified the owners away and I think it hurts people but they won't let me get close. This is the third time!"
[17:29] Grif: "...I wonder if the Ghostbusters rent out their equipment."
[17:30] Grif: (This may sound like a flippant suggestion, but he is actually pondering the idea.)
[17:30] Martel: "Ask Candice," shut up, Martel. He's done with Mabel's scratches, and pats her hand briefly before packing the kit back up. "What are you going to do if you /do/ get close?" -to Mabel.
[17:32] Mabel: "Ghosts don't hurt nobody, they just dead." Mabel glares at Grif as if she wasn't just bodily hurled through a door by her ghost buddies. "Seal it up if I can. Yell at if it if don't mean any harm." ...yeah.
[17:33] * Subaru almost smiles, for reasons he will not share with the class. "Considering the lengths they have gone to, it's likely it does mean harm."
[17:34] Grif: "You've never met some of the ghosts *I've* known, back in my universe."
[17:34] Martel: "I'm sure that's going to continue going well for you." Martel is a responsible adult, and not at all dry. (...these are lies. Where's his booze.)
[17:34] Mabel: "Probably." ...She does not sound concerned about this.
[17:35] * Hasibe is just...refraining, which is sort of unfortunate because she has experience with this (...ask her why the house she shares with Henry was so cheap: it was full of ghosts!!), but she just--does not like to talk about it publicly, so. Huan is getting a lot of petting so he doesn't go harass Mabel. Or Martel.
[17:35] * Henry returns, at this extremely convenient juncture, and--hey, an injured small child! What.
[17:36] * Martel is putting the first aid kit away, now, and when he gets back he's going to retreat to his chair and his glass.
[17:37] * Hasibe smiles, vaguely, at Henry, as if to say 'oh, you have missed /wonders/.' "We're discussing hauntings. Work okay?" She assumes that is what it was, but maybe it was something else, who knows!
[17:39] * Mabel will cross her arms, scratches or no scratches, and try to look as angry as possible....oh hey, there's something knocking in the door she was just thrown through. It's very quiet and hesitant, but it's definitely knocking.
[17:39] Hasibe: Huan helpfully responds to this by growling a little 'til Hasi shushes him.
[17:40] Henry: "The crisis was reasonably miniature." Some people don't turn off machinery the way they're supposed to. :| Henry eyes Mabel with ...s...omething, like she is a little strange but he doesn't know why. Maybe it's just all that child anger! How exciting. Aaanyway, hauntings. "I shouldn't be surprised by anything anymore." ...really, really not.
[17:41] Hasibe: "Probably not, bi tanem. Look, I brought you things." To the tune of mild alcoholic beverages.
[17:41] * Subaru is concerned about this /for/ you, Mabel. :| ... But there is knocking, which Subaru turns to glare at. "Please step back," to Mabel.
[17:42] * Martel dug out the Yellowtail :D ... yes. He's returning from the back room now.
[17:42] Henry: "You're beautiful." NOTHING CAN STOP THEM, NOT EVEN GHOSTS. ...also he's fond of that nickname. --Hi Martel, Henry is just going to take this moment to lol a little at the choice of wine, and--knocking. Well.
[17:43] Mabel: "No." Child, must you. "You might as well unseal it, it can't hurt people here. It's probably another dead thing." She sounds cheerful about that prospect... look, she prefers dead things over adults.
[17:44] * Martel was trolling Henry when he picked it, so. He is remarkably unconcerned about dead things, what with sorta kinda being one himself. ...okay, he's not dead /anymore/, but he's still blasé.
[17:44] Hasibe: "I don't really mind them," she chimes in, helpfully. ...Hasi doesn't count, she would have kept their house-ghosts if it weren't for the fact that everyone /else/ doesn't appreciate hauntings. She smiles at Henry. "Our dog does, though."
[17:44] Hasibe: Huan finds ghosts stressful, FYI :(
[17:45] * Sebastian returns from the hallway. He's still looking a little rattled around the edges, but he'll survive. B|
[17:45] Grif: "We're not going to have to worry about possession or anything, right?" He's just going to keep an ear out for the distinctive 'HRLJHRLGHRLGHRGRLHRGLK!' sound.
[17:46] Henry: And fair enough, too. "I'll take him home, if you'd like," he inquires of Hasi.
[17:47] * Subaru gives her a titch of a concerned look, but he can't actually disagree on the dead-people-are-better-than-living-ones note, so. "Alright, but please be careful." He doesn't trust the AVF, okay, but he unseals the door.
[17:47] * Martel finds the dog more distracting than dead things. .................no, /really/.
[17:47] * Sebastian heads over to the bar to make himself some hot ginger with milk and a tiny bit of honey. :9
[17:48] Hasibe: Huan is going to develop a complex about you, Martel, what are you doing to his self-esteem
[17:48] * Martel doesn't feel the slightest bit bad, so there >:( ... this is a lie, one day he might even grudgingly pat the dog.
[17:48] Martel: (But nobody hold their breath.)
[17:49] Henry: Huan is so cute, Martel. You will love him someday. Or you'll have to eventually slap Henry, because /Henry/ obviously loves the dog.
[17:49] Hasibe: "I think we're okay thus far, but--maybe." She is going to drink her wine peacefully. Mabel concerns her a bit, but there are like, seven concerned adults in this damn room, so hers is probably a bit extraneous.
[17:50] * Severus pushes the door open and ... looks in. Hello, have a looming wizard.
[17:51] * Subaru is still going to keep his ofuda handy and hover near Mabel a little, but.. honestly, he can handle one ghost, and he is rather concerned about its ghosty well-being too. (Yes, really.)
[17:51] * Sebastian is oblivious to having offended the gods and keeps mincing up some ginger.
[17:51] Mabel: The door opens just enough to let something crawl through - not from the door, but from the ceiling. It's dead, and it's been dead for awhile. It moves like all its limbs and its neck is broken, but it stays on the ceiling (there is a DOG) and makes quiet hissing noises at people. Mostly Mabel.
[17:51] * Martel is genuinely pleased to see Severus, just enjoy that for a moment. "Shiraz?" Don't leave, you antisocial bastard.
[17:52] * Martel is aware of his alcohol tolerance, okay, it'll be a small glass.
[17:53] Hasibe: Huan is quiet, but he stares at the thing like he desperately, desperately wants to bite it. In the face. And then shake it until it comes apart like a stuffed toy. ...hi, kangal are kind of fierce. Hasibe glances up at what's on the ceiling, too. "Stay over there," she suggests to it, wryly.
[17:53] * Severus looks at Martel, the ceiling, and back to Martel. "...As you say."
[17:53] * Sebastian looks up at the ceiling and shudders. There is an AVF here. It will not get him. It is just a horrible, terrible, undead thing that is harmless. Really.
[17:54] * Henry cannot ...see whatever that is, but he is aware of its presence, his typist guesses blindly. So that's fun.
[17:54] * Grif looks over briefly at where the more ghostly-knowledgeable have been looking, then shrugs and gets himself a fresh bottle of beer.
[17:54] Martel: "The little girl brought a friend," is Martel's explanation for the thing on the ceiling to Severus, as he gets another glass. He can't see it, but he can /feel/ it and as such skirts around away from it when he moves.
[17:54] * Severus is halfway to the bar when he stops, eyebrows raising.
[17:55] * Subaru watches it crawl in, a little sadly. "Good evening." ... yes, he is more talkative with the broken-boned thing on the ceiling than the living people around him.
[17:55] * Sebastian stops with the knife mid-way through a slice. Well, fuck a duck. Uh, act casual?
[17:55] * Hasibe hmms and leans down to Huan; the big dog trots across the floor and goes to nose at Sebastian's ankles reassuringly.
[17:55] * Severus stares.
[17:55] Mabel: "You!" Mabel does not seem glad to see her little friend. "Where is my *bat*? I know you took it, I saw you!"
[17:56] * Martel pushes a glass toward Severus, /his/ eyebrows raised. What is going on /now/.
[17:56] * Sebastian puts the knife down with a bit of a clatter and awkwardly bends down to skritch at Huan.
[17:56] Severus: "Another time," he says to Martel, and it would be an apology if ... you know, he was inclined to be polite about anything ever. And now he's going to turn on his heel and leave.
[17:57] * Sebastian bucks up his courage. "...wait."
[17:57] * Martel leans on his elbow, tracking his gaze from Severus's back to Sebastian.
[17:57] * Severus pauses with his hand on the doorknob. Oh, for actual fuck's SAKE.
[17:58] Mabel: It takes a second, but the dead thing lets go of a bat and lets it clatter on the floor. Its warped and bent nearly in half from the impact of... something. He seems very apologetic about this. And very distressed, because he can't get closer to Mabel and there is a dog.
[17:58] * Grif looks mildly alarmed at the mention of 'bat,' only barely stifling a noise, before he rationalizes that she must mean baseball bat, and then settles.
[17:58] Sebastian: "What year is it?" He's fully aware that neither of them can do anything about this, but....
[17:58] * Severus makes a disgusted noise, opens the door, and lets it slam behind him as he leaves.
[17:59] * Grif 's typist is apparently slow, having been pre-empted by the appearance of the bat itself. Oops. Still, damn.
[18:00] * Henry SIGHS and pats his lap. Huan, this is only because there is a dead thing, and there are none of those in the house.
[18:00] * Sebastian is wearing the most spectacular expression. ~@_@~
[18:01] Hasibe: Huan attempts to herd Sebastian toward a chair, which is a sign that he likes you, Sebastian, before heading toward Henry. LAP. Hasibe finishes her wine glass, in the meantime.
[18:01] * Martel eyes Sebastian suspiciously - look, Severus is his /best friend/ - and returns to his own glass, anyway, seated by Henry and Hasi. (And their dog. Sigh.)
[18:01] * Sebastian is content to be herded, leaving his ginger on the counter.
[18:01] Hasibe: "You okay?" This is quiet, to Sebastian.
[18:02] Henry: "Come on, let's go. This is a one time thing, though." Apparently he expects Huan can understand full sentences, and conditional lap-sitting.
[18:02] Sebastian: "Not really. Did everyone else see him?"
[18:02] Martel: "Severus?"
[18:02] Hasibe: "Yes."
[18:02] Sebastian: "Y-yes. I..." Thought it might've been one of the dead trying to get through the door.
[18:03] * Mabel is too busy glaring at the boy (well, it used to be a boy) on the ceiling.
[18:03] Grif: "I take it there's some uncomfortable history there?"
[18:04] Hasibe: Huan clambers up onto Henry and Hasi says, glancing over, "He's stealing my spot, I see."
[18:05] Sebastian: "It's been a while since I've seen him." ...you know, since his death and all that.
[18:06] * Subaru is too -- on that note, he says to Mabel, "You may need a new one," re: the bat. :/
[18:06] Martel: "Ten, eleven years?" Martel guesses, innocently.
[18:06] Henry: "Temporarily." Here, if he tugs her closer, the dog can sit on BOTH of them. This is a puppy, by the way.
[18:07] Hasibe: Huan is just a little B| at most of this place. Ghosts! People in need of protecting! Children Hasibe won't let him herd! Life is hard
[18:07] Sebastian: "More than that, actually."
[18:07] * Mabel finally loses some of her attitude and gives the bat a worried, almost frightened look. "I didn't hit anything."
[18:07] Hasibe: But with punctuation. Anyway: "Oh, well, then." This is comfortable.
[18:08] Martel: "He and I were resurrected here in the same way," Martel explains, taking a drink. "Severus has been around longer than I have, though."
[18:09] Sebastian: "I'm sorry, I'm slower than usual today. Resurrected?" Lord, Sebastian could use a drink.
[18:09] * Subaru nods; "No, something much stronger did that."
[18:09] Martel: "From death," blandly.
[18:09] * Martel is altogether too chill about that concept.
[18:10] Sebastian: "I see. That does explain a few things." No, it doesn't.
[18:13] * Subaru feels this might be a good time to mention, since he is exceedingly concerned, "The entity in the house -- might it be better if you called a professional to take care of that?"
[18:14] * Henry just accepts, blandly, that he is entirely out of the loop here, which ....is ultimately fine, he is in way enough loops. "I have to go back to the office for a little while when we get home, to make sure the auto-shutoff is working." Because otherwise the university will be hemhorraging money over night, and universities hate that.
[18:14] * Grif looks over at the bat with a critical eye -- as much as one can have at a distance without hands on the item, anyway, albeit with augmented vision. "Hm. Man, that's pretty wrecked."
[18:15] Hasibe: "You should bring me with you," Hasi suggests, innocently, "Or, I don't know, I can just wait at home." Where she won't get into trouble.
[18:15] Mabel: The dead thing makes worried little circles around Mabel's head. "What professionals?" Mabel demands. "How I am gonna find someone like that? Everything thinks I'm a crazy cutter who breaks things."
[18:16] * Henry laaaughs. "And what would you do there?" Get into trouble, exactly.
[18:16] * Martel leaves it at that, because he's going to ask /Severus/ what the hell that was later. His attention drifts back over to Henry and Hasi, instead - via Mabel, to whom he says, "I know one or two."
[18:17] Hasibe: "Charm your coworkers, I don't know. Maybe I'm best saved for a function or two when I can get dressed up--I know you love those." So much.
[18:17] * Henry thinks Martel should come see his new digs at some point. >:)
[18:17] * Martel would love to >:3
[18:18] * Subaru .... offers Mabel a hand. "Sumeragi Subaru, I am a- omnyojitsu, ah, I believe you say a 'medium' in English?"
[18:18] Henry: "Well, everyone else will be home by now. So it would just be us, and you'd have to occupy yourself while I go around flipping switches." Possibly this won't deter Hasi at all. Possibly that is on purpose. "And I do love those. Possibly as much as I love gum surgery."
[18:19] * Subaru wonders about the state of supernatural regulation in America, honestly.
[18:21] Mabel: The dead thing makes a shrieking noise, short and cut off. It does not think this is a good idea. B| (...It does not really have enough left of its face to make this expression, but imagine.)
[18:22] Hasibe: "Well, I love them, I get to put on pretty dresses and absurd heels." Fact: she requires not even the slightest provocation for either of those things. "I'll just wait for you at home, I think--whenever you've got to go, I'll go with you --" Huan barks at the dead thing on the ceiling. "-- maybe soon, I think he's getting stressed out."
[18:22] * Subaru looks up at it. What.
[18:22] * Grif momentarily feels a slight pang at the mention of flipping switches, as if there was something deep in his soul that he was missing. Two things, really, since the switch flipping should be accompanied by being bossed around by an AI. Thankfully, the moment passes quickly, and he mostly just has to wonder to himself WTF that was.
[18:23] * Martel finishes his wine glass, and for his part he's going to quietly excuse himself about now.
