nerve pain and coonhound

The Friday before last I dropped a weight at the gym, and immediately knew I'd done something to my left wrist. I started icing it and wrapping it and taking advil, and it was a bit better by the end of the weekend but I called my doctor on Tuesday. She said it sounded like some kind of tendon sprain, and to get a firmer brace, and keep up with the ice. Then on Friday morning I woke up and my thumb was numb! Called again and she was like, have you been sleeping in the brace? If so, that's probably what triggered that business. So now I have some kind of squished-up nerve in my hand, and every so often something I do sends tingly pains all the way up my arm. Still! To be fair I have not been icing as much as I should but ughhh. It feels so weird and I want it to stop.

This morning Pat and I were heading outside to walk to the coffee shop when a medium-sized dog (which after some googling I figured out was an English coonhound) was puttering around our driveway. We greeted her and tried to read her tags; I saw that her name was Roxie but she was busy exploring and I did not get a look at the phone number on the back. I was really concerned because she was not fearful at all and was clearly just traipsing around through yard after yard, so we followed her and tried to call her over, for like five or six houses. Finally she ran over to us and Pat got ahold of her collar, and we called both numbers and got voicemail on each one. I then tried calling animal control, but it went straight to PPD dispatch because I guess animal control was off today.

We walked with her over to the coffee shop, where I went in and asked the owner if they happened to have a leash or rope or anything around. She brought out a treat and another woman got a leash out of her car and said "I don't have a dog anymore" which made me want to cry but the leash made it so much easier to keep the dog in one place. While PPD were on their way, a woman called back about Roxie and made arrangements for a neighbor to come and pick her up. So we just sat outside the coffee shop, with this sweet dog, waiting for her ride; people kept asking to pet her and what breed she was, and we just said "don't know, she's very friendly but we just found her 10 minutes ago!" Once someone had fetched Roxie we went in to get coffee, and Pat said "oh... I miss our dog." It was really fun to have a dog for 15 minutes. I kept the leash just in case this ever happens again!
