By lunchtime today I had convinced myself that I had strep throat, so I called my doctor's office the second it was 1:00 (my break) and the receptionist was like, "oh, come on over right now." So through some magic of convenient timing, I managed to drive over to my doctor's office, and get my throat swabbed, and find out (via a little rapid test thing that was remarkably similar to a pregnancy test) that I do NOT have strep throat, and then drive back to work. I did not miss any seconds of work, paid only my copay for the visit, and had the peace of mind of not worrying myself to the urgent care clinic (which would have cost me six times as much moolah).

I was a little embarrassed that I had worked myself up over what was actually just post-nasal drip, so I mumbled this partially-true story about how, I work with such a vulnerable population with many compromised immune systems etc etc (all of that part is true) and that I was worried about giving them all strep throat and then they'll get sick and die and it will be my fault. Truthfully though, I am going to a REALLY BIG WRESTLING SHOW in Boston this weekend, and I was really worried that I'd end up too sick to go.

So in addition to being able to see me on my lunch break, my doctor also made an amazing recommendation to gargle with aloe juice. ALOE JUICE who ever heard of such a thing. But it tastes really good and feels really nice, and then you just swallow it and it soothes your whole throat, all the way down. ALOE JUICE FOR A SORE THROAT EVERYONE!
