[ He waits a good twelve minutes.

It takes only about ten of inane conversation and cuddling for Vanille to drift off to sleep, but he takes that extra two just to be sure.

He checks to make sure her eyelids are fluttering in that tell-tale sign of dreaming before he shifts beside her, careful not to jostle her head as he slips out from under it, scooting closer to the edge of the bed, where he'd taken care to drop his jacket.

He need only lean over, slip a hand into the pocket and--

He lets out a quiet, happy sound as soon as that stick of cigarette touches his lips, but with his eager fumbling around for his lighter, he accidentally gives Vanille's foot a little kick. ]

[ It's truly an unfortunate moment for him to learn how light of a sleeper she can be. After all, she needed to be, what with growing up in a place where monsters can attack at any given second.

If he'd waited just a few minutes longer she might not have jumped back to consciousness the second his foot collides with hers. She very nearly bolts upright, but being practically wound around him and tangled in the bedsheets prevented that. ]

[ He jumps at the poke, teeth nearly gritting down against the tobacco. He has half the mind to just whip around, break out that lighter and light up like he ain't got a care in the world

So he curls around a little more, cupping a hand over his mouth. ]

[ Well, he's not going to get a pout- but he will get a whine. A rather sleepy one, actually, as she flops back down to the pillow, curling up close and tangling her hands in the ends of his hair, tugging gently.
