RESERVE { Gino Weinberg - VII of VII } END PROCESSexcelsOctober 2 2009, 20:42:25 UTC
SAMPLE Gino had only ever seen trains. He'd never ridden one. Unless a cable car counted, then he had definitely ridden on a train. But as far as something on tracks that went chugga-chugga-choo choo! and blew smoke up into the air? Nope, never. It had been one of his many, many silly ambitions: to ride a commoner train to noplace in particular. So how convenient was it for him that he had the opportunity to ride one somewhere here and now! He was loaded down with suitcases and money and his Rounds cloak, which was unbelievably heavy in spite of it being, you know, a cloak. Even though he wasn't a Knight anymore, he still often carried it around with him. For luck. And for memories.
Or something like that.
Tried as he might, though, he hadn't been able to convince any of his friends to come with him on this trip. Kallen had work, Anya did too. Rivalz and Milly were going on their first date ever (and how could he possibly think to interrupt such a thing, in that case?), and Nina was going somewhere to see someone. Even some of his old friends from the military were too busy with their lives to accompany him. The scientists, the remaining Rounds members, the very few former members of the Black Knights that he'd befriended, anyone from the Chinese Federation... he wasn't even allowed to bring Arthur along! It had almost deterred him from going on vacation at all; why go on a vacation alone, after all? But in the end he decided that they would all change their minds sooner or later and catch up with him. And by that point he would have gotten a head start! Ha ha! Sucks for them.
Although he hadn't expected the train ride to be quite so unexciting. At first he had been bouncing in his seat and looking out the window, but the moment the train departed it got unusually dark, so much so that he couldn't see a hand held up in front of his face. He stood to alert the stewardess, but she popped up at his side right at that moment and chirped cheerfully that he should please stay seated until the train has reached its destination, thank you.
Boring.
So he fell asleep. And at last, with a melodic ping~pong~ the train had reached Eronum Station some several hours later. Gino leapt off the train, forgetting a bag or two of his in the process, which the lone stewardess had to rush out and return to him before the train left again. "So this is Eronum, huh?" Gino asked aloud to no one in particular, shouldering his abundant luggage and meandering off the station platform and into the city streets. It wasn't terribly unlike the cities back home. Maybe a little cleaner, less modern. And much more cheerful. He liked that. Turning to survey the sign stating what street he was on, and then turning again in a full circle this time, Gino tried to decide on a direction to start in. "Better find out what the commoners do here for fun."
