WHO: Maria Ushiromiya, Mail "Matt" Jeevas WHAT: Maria waits for Matt to come and take her homeee~ WHEN: After this WHERE: At the Train Station~ OTHER: My first log, like, ever ; Please don't hurt me
That was...too cute. He took one of the candies with a small thanks and a smile, popping it in his mouth. Even though her uncle did it...Matt still felt like he was being a bad example. Then again, he wasn't exactly role model material. When had he actually cared so much?
"...Okay." More grateful than he'd show Matt swallowed the candy and shoved a cigarette between his lips. A few flicks of his lighter and the cancer stick was lit. It didn't take long before Matt was taking a deep drag, letting out the smoke with a sigh. Man he'd needed that.
Even though he hadn't thought this completely through Matt knew Maria could probably share his room with him. He had a futon in there which he could fold out into a bed along with the bed already in there. There was also a small TV on the dresser so they could watch things he supposed.
It was probably a little sad to get excited over the idea of watching television with a nine year old, but then again, if Mello was any show of Matt's 'friend making' skills it probably wasn't that strange after all.
It wasn't too far now, the two of them only about a few blocks or so away from the flat. Turning down a few streets it didn't take long before Matt was at the front door, Maria at his side as he fumbled with the keys, pushing the door open with his foot when he turned the door knob.
Maria walked through the door quickly, eyes wide open, and when she arrived in the middle of the main room she span softly on her heel, taking in the whole scope of her surroundings. She smiled, her face lighting up.
It was nothing like the house that Maria lived in with her mother, no no. It was much smaller and compressed... but something about it was more warm and homely. Maybe it was the fact it wasn't a massive, cold, empty house, or maybe it was the fact that someone would nearly always be home when Maria needed someone. Or was it jus-- No need for explainations.
She just felt so happy here, it felt so different, warm, and... She couldn't really put her finger on what it was, but it made her heart smile.
"Uuuu~!, Maria likes it here a lot~!" Maria exclaimed, spinning around again to face Matt.
Well...she seemed happy enough. That was a good thing. When were kids so easy to please? "I'm glad." He gave her a small, light laugh before gesturing to the side. "My room's over here, and my friend's is that one over there. That's the bathroom and the kitchen is to your left." Avoiding Mello's room completely he led her to his room. It wasn't really much, but there was a dresser with a TV on it, a bed, a small desk and chair and a futon.
"I hope you won't mind sharing a room with me Maria." She'd been so agreeable so far he doubted it, but you never knew.
"We can fold the couch out into a bed and you can sleep on that maybe? Or you can have my bed..." It was a good thing Matt wasn't picky so long as he had a blanket and pillow to sleep with.
Man. Taking care of kids was hard and Maria wasn't even a troublesome one!
Maria shook her head to motion that she was fine with sleeping in the same room as Matt. She started to follow him intently, stopping at the door of his room to quickly take off her shoes. She then walked in to the room, clutching her shoes, looking up and down and all around. It wasn't exactly spectacular, but she liked it a lot.
"Uuu~, Maria doesn't mind where she sleeps. Matt can decide~" Maria smiled; she didn't want to come across as a fussy child this early... Her thoughts then drifted as to what to do next. Maybe she could think up something fun to do~
Matt threw himself onto his bed, kicking off his boots and staring at her. "We'll put sheets on the couch later, okay? And you can have one of my pillows."
Even though sleeping with two was always nice...he could share.
Now that that was done and over with...
...
What to do?
It wasn't as if he'd been doing much to begin with in the first place...
Maria watched Matt, as usual, nodding and smiling as a 'thank you for the pillow' gesture.
She continued to stare at Matt, seeing as she had nothing else to look at anyway... Though, staring at someone constantly is rather rude, but it didn't seem to cross Maria's mind.
"Does Matt want to have a tea party with Maria?" She said finally, breaking the silence between them.
Th-They could have sweet English tea and cakes, French fancies, cupcakes, parfait and whatever else their minds could come up with; to Maria the possibilities were endless! ...But she didn't really think, and neither did it cross her mind, about the fact that Matt was an older male, who probably wouldn't appreciate having tea and biscuits with 'Dolly'.
A. Tea party. He was being asked to play tea party. What was the world coming to? Even though the suggestion sounded absolutely terrible, it wasn't as if he could think of anything better to do.
"Sure...We can have a tea party Maria."
Oh god. At least Mello was out. At least he wouldn't have to know.
Maria smiled and sat down in the middle of the floor with a plop. She then patted the ground in front of her, motioning Matt to come and sit across from her. ...So, what first?
She imagined a little table in front of them both, with some pretty crockery laid out, decorated with little roses, and a beautiful Victorian teapot and teacups. She 'picked' up the teapot and poured herself a cup of tea.
"Uuu~, does Matt want some tea too~?" Maria asked, offering him some cake.
...Wait. So they were actually pretending entirely? He didn't have to get the tea cups out of the cupboard and brew up something?
Oh god, how ridiculous. If Mello ever caught him like this...
Reluctantly sitting on the ground before Maria Matt tried his best to play pretend. But he kind of sucked at it. And by sucked at it, meant he didn't know how. Sure he had quite the imagination, but he rarely ever used it.
"Uuu~" Maria smiled, picked up the tea pot and poured some of the tea into Matt's tea cup. After sipping some of her own, Maria cocked her head to one side and thought about what to do or eat next.
..."How about some cupcakes?"
She imagined a little plater, covered in cupcakes with frosted pink icing and little sugar roses on top. From the middle of the table, she picked up the platter, took a cupcake, passed the plate onto Matt, and started eating it.
Maria smiled back, taking another bite of her cupcake. She was so glad that Matt was playing along with her, it made her very happy. She knew that if she'd asked her mother, then she would have just refused.
"Uuu~! What does Matt want to eat next~? Time for Matt to think of something~!" Maria grinned at him. She was intrested in seeing if Matt played along this far and would start imagining things too.
"Umm..." Looking around the room and back to the floor he held up a plate. "Let's have some gingersnap cookies Maria." Matt felt his stomach growl in response. All this playing with pretend food was making him hungry.
Maria grinned, grabbed one, and took a large bite of the cookie. She could just imagine eating one; and that to her, was the magic of playing make believe. It made her even happier that Matt had imagined something up.
After a second, she started to giggle a little. Maria brought her head up from her cookie and looked at Matt, a smile across her little face.
"Kinda." He admitted, setting the 'plate' down. He was a bit hungry but certainly not starving. Usually Matt found him eating simply because he was bored.
Maria shrugged. To be honest, she was a little hungry, but seeing as she still hadn't finished off her sweets yet, she felt it would be a bit rude to say yes.

This was so...so...
Well it was actually kind of fun, in a really stupid way. But he'd never in a million years admit it.
